NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines has raised concerns over safety procedures at Sarajevo Airport after conducting its own inspection earlier this year, local media report. The airline, which has the right to carry out oversight at airports it serves, identified a number of shortcomings, including invalid staff training certificates and non-compliance with international regulations that came into force in December 2024. The findings prompted Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Directorate for Civil Aviation (BHDCA) to step in and launch a wider review.

Following Croatia Airlines’ report, BHDCA inspectors uncovered twenty cases of non-compliance with domestic and international aviation safety standards at Sarajevo Airport. Among the violations were failures to properly train staff handling passenger and baggage screening, inadequate use of explosive trace detection equipment and the absence of certified crisis response drills. The airline’s intervention could now trigger international procedures regarding Sarajevo Airport’s operating permits. The airport itself has not commented on these developments.

A political game to change the airport's management again. Nothing else. OU has its own favourites. The worst CEO Sarajevo Airport had some years ago when it barely had any traffic used to work at Croatia Airlines.

      I am reffering to this

"Mr. Veličan, who is a member of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP), was named as Sarajevo Airport’s CEO in the summer of 2011 while he was still Croatia Airlines’ country manager for Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, Mr. Veličan served at both positions for several months leading to a direct conflict of interest."

So SJJ had a CEO who was at the same time working at Croatia Airlines, while Croatia Airlines used to have a CEO who was at the same time sitting on the board of Lufthansa Cityline. lol

@20:41 A political game? Bosnia's own agency found failures at the airport.

When Croatia Airlines flights with the night wave arrive at Zagreb late, they delay departure to Sarajevo to catch these late pax. Every time, all employees of Sarajevo airport would wait for them, doing extra hours. Now when the airport works longer and nobody is doing them the favor, they have space to put the blame on them.

It has noting to do with that, and it has everything with that SJJ hired bunch of security guards without being properly trained and holding certificates..

What's even crazier is that a capital city airport is not open 24 hours and employees have to ''wait'' for the last flight.

That is because of very old laws governing noise. Stansted, Gatwick and Luton have flights 24/7, so it's not like London cannot be served at night.

Seems like some sabotage from OU, maybe they should check their own house. Surprising they are the only airline having these “difficulties” while Ryan Air, Wizz Air, Austrian, Swiss, and Turkish among others are thriving at the airport.

SJJ airport is also a nightmare considering the noise for people living around the runway. But LHR is closed "due to very old noise laws" and it's okay, but Sarajevo is shamefully closed for the same reason! Take a chill pull when it comes to Bosnia guys.
