The Serbian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dragan Bisenić, has met with the CEO of the Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP), Majid Khan, to discuss the potential introduction of flights between the two countries. The ACP was established in 2021 with the primary goal of supporting air travel partners as they initiate or expand their presence in the Kingdom. So far, the program has attracted British Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, ITA Airways, Eurowings, Transavia, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific and a number of other Chinese carriers, as well as Saudi airlines to commence new services. “During the meeting, we discussed avenues for cooperation in the field of air connectivity”, the ACP said.
Late last year, EX-YU Aviation News spoke to Mr Khan during the CAPA Airlines Leaders Summit in Belgrade, during which he noted, “We look at markets like Belgrade and we would love to have it connected to Saudi Arabia. If you ask me personally which two markets in the Balkans I feel are relevant and where there is potential, these are definitely Belgrade and Zagreb with Air Serbia and Croatia Airlines”. He added, “In these markets, people are explorers. Yes, you have been to Spain and Italy a few times, but you want to explore new destinations and we see the same across this part of Europe”. This summer, Serbia and Saudi Arabia signed a bilateral Air Services Agreement, enabling the introduction of flights between the two countries.

DeleteWhat exactly does a "political flight" mean? Are politicians negotiating this route? No. It is normal for two countries to have bilaterals regardless of whether there are flights and it is normal for a country's ambassador to lobby for flights. That's one of his jobs.

See Athens for example some years ago there were no flights to SA, now Aegean flies daily year round to JED and 4x to RUH while Saudia flies 3x year round RUH-ATH and seasonal 4x ATH-JED. Demand will be there if flights start.

DeleteLooking forward to new routes from BEG. At least they can try. Saudi is getting more and more popular and visited. This route can also be used for transfers to the region and Europe. There is potential.

DeleteFew months ago Foreign affair Minister announced that there are talks with over 35 countries to abolish visas for Serbian citizens and vice versa. Saudi Arabia is among them, as well as Britain, Ireland, USA, Canada, Morocco...

DeleteTheir Visas are too much expensive. With Italian Passport, 170 euros. I am not gonna pay.
