Pristina Airport saw its busiest November on record by handling 336.964 passengers, representing an increase of 8.1% on the same month last year. During the January - November period, the airport welcomed 4.216.152 travellers, up 13.4%, or by an additional 497.096 passengers.

The growth has slowed down quite considerably post summer and start of next year does not seem very promising. The incentives program has not done much so far.
ReplyDeleteAirport operator's hands are tied. Government sets the airport fees. It is the most bizarre concession agreement I have heard of.
DeleteI am not very familiar with it, but as you are saying, the private company built and operates the airport, and they pay the government a percentage of gross revenues. And the fees airport charges to airlines are set by the government?

ReplyDeleteThey should. Seems like they are successful being Kosovo's national airline. SKP seems the most logical first move. But Wizz is planning huge expansion drive there...a pre-emptive move? Saying...stay off my cloud...?
DeleteThey stand no chance against Wizz or in any other Balkan airport. Only PRN operates with reiseburo agencies like that.

DeleteThe airport would need to grow by 8-9% to reach that and based on scheduled capacity so far, it seems a bit difficult.
DeleteGP Aviation has nine planes during peak holiday days. At least that's what I counted.
