NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier easyJet will increase frequencies on several routes to markets in the former Yugoslavia during peak-season operations in July and August compared to its initial plan.
Ljubljana will see the introduction of one additional weekly flight from London Gatwick, bringing the total to eight weekly services, with the extra departure scheduled on Saturdays. easyJet will also increase frequencies in Pristina. During July and August, flights from Berlin will rise from the initially planned four weekly to five weekly, with an additional Wednesday service. Similarly, the low cost carrier will add one extra weekly flight from both Berlin and Manchester to Tivat, bringing frequencies to four and three weekly services respectively. The Berlin increase will be in place in September and October, while the Manchester growth is scheduled for June, September and October.

Is this the first time Easyjet is doing a double daily flight to a destination in Slovenia? Or did they do it anytime before covid?
ReplyDeleteI believe they had 10 weekly to STN.
DeleteYes in 2019
Deletebut they were flying to Gatwick and Stansted ... in total in summer 2019 there were 4 flights to Gatwick, 10 flights to Stansted, 4 times Luton and 2 times LHR. So 20 weekly flights. This year we will have 18? flights in summer right?
DeleteMakes sense, in the last two weeks of march most of the flights to LJU had only a few seats empty. I wonder how the route to Edinburgh is performing, the first flight was today!
ReplyDeletefrom what i have heard (#ediguy) should be performing better than Manchester.
DeleteFrom what I see, even Manchester is doing great in the summer. And since they extended it to winter 2027, i guess its doing well enough
DeleteThanks #ediguy, your prophecy was finally fulfilled in full haha. From what I see most of the flights in April already have >80% seats booked. Interesting how it is doing even better than Manchester, considering the difference in population.
Deletefrom what i hear most people in SLO are more excited about EDI because of a weekend gate a way trip ... so inbount to EDI most be strong i guess
Delete@10.53, yes, definitely. In the past few weeks I think three flights (one leg of them) were sold out or had only a few seats remaining. The route is definitely gonna stick, hopefully it proves sustainable in the winter as well in the long term.
DeleteJust checked one way prices for LJU-MAN tickets in August and almost all are over 250punds (300€), so the flights are surely very full...I think even EDI would work as 2x weekly in winter because a lot of Slovenian students do study there
DeleteI still can't comprehend how LJU can be so successful from MAN and EDI but BEG can't...
DeleteIt was explained to you multiple times. Learn how to read.

if you are interested ... flight today: inbound 151 pax, out 99 pax #EDIguy
DeleteAround 70% LF average is good for the first flight. Keep it going easyJet!
Delete13:26 the little thing called Visas. Getting to Luton from central England isnt a big deal, and essentially all regional airports in the UK are connected with BG with one-stop flights via Amsterdam for those who wish to visit it.
DeleteHey Edi (that's your name from now on, you should log in to Blogger and use it when you comment :DDD ) any idea who applied for the tender? Apart from AirBaltic
DeleteWhile they are reducing ORY-SKP to one weekly flight from August to October after what they are ending the route….
ReplyDeleteDid they confirm they are ending the route after October? I'm flying with them now in May from SKP to ORY and on the way back I'm using Wizz
DeleteI am gonna said again, SKP needs CDG not ORY, they should giwe subsidies to flag carrier that will open strategic connection point to the world not to company that fly to ORY without any connection option.Demand for p2p people from Macedonia to France is not that strong, and all that passengers are using wizz air option. Macedonia needs transfer airport especially in summer and that CDG
DeleteAnon 16:41, I totally agree with you but I think that if subsidies were interesting enough then AF would already have applied. I keep saying that a national carrier (let’s call it Air Macedonia) will be the best solution, they could fly to AMS, CDG, BRU, LHR, CPH, MUC, DUS, LUX, HAJ and so on…
DeleteAnd what makes you believe that a Macedonian national carrier would be able to secure slots at Heathrow or Amsterdam and actually turn a profit on such a route? Sorry to break it to you but Skopje is firmly LCC territory. Any attempt to create such an airline would be a sad waste of money the country cannot afford.
DeleteThose subsidies programs are otfen more welcomed for low cost carriers not flag carriers, there are case but not alot. So honestly I do not expect AF will accept subsidies to lauch SKP-CDG at any point soon... here we comes to question why we dont have national carrier that at least will provide ys those Europe hubs... even with loss and no profit OU recieving money from the government so no any issue with that :)))
DeleteThere is no national carrier because staring one would be a massive loss maker and a huge waste of tax payers money.
DeleteYes true but looking forward lets count how much money our government payed to Wizz air in this 15 years , than we will realise that in the end of the day better that money be redirected to national carrier than someone from outside recieving them. That is long process and will take time , and low cost carriers will still have the option to fly from Macedonia, as now they dont giwe us main hubs only few, most are second airports....
DeleteThere are not flights to many major hubs for a reason. In the wider contrxt the market is tiny and not particuarly wealthy. Who on earth is going to make a Heathrow-Skopje flight profitable? I'm afraid to say nobody. The cost of starting a national carrier to cover 'major hubs' as you put them is vast, and without a wider network of connections just wouldnt stand a chance at all. Its non-starter in the modern aviation climate. The current method works well and has give Skopje the greatest aviation connectivity in its history.
DeleteAdmin, can we expect passenger performance by airports for February 2026 and the sum of both months?
ReplyDeleteYes, in the coming days.
DeleteWhat are the results on the Belgrade - Paris?
ReplyDeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteFor what?
DeleteFor the massive growth the airport is experiencing without having a national carrier.
DeleteALL of the pax numbers are pure O&D.
Last year it had a big decline during the first few months.
DeleteThis is clearly why GP aviation halted Pristina-Berlin ....
ReplyDeleteThey will both fly in the summer. GP just pushed the start
DeleteThey have also upgraded most of the Ljubljana-London flights to A321!
