Low cost carrier Wizz Air has announced it will roll out fast-speed Starlink internet connectivity onboard its aircraft from 2027. All of the airline’s next-generation aircraft are expected to be equipped with Starlink. Wizz Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ian Malin, said, “Ultra-low-cost travel has always been about making the flying experience accessible to as many people as possible. In 2027, we are taking this philosophy into the space age. Our customers should not have to choose between affordable fares and reliable internet access on board to stay connected to the people, activities and moments that matter most. Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity through a network of low-Earth-orbit satellites. On aircraft, Starlink enables passengers to access fast WiFi throughout the flight, supporting activities such as video streaming, online gaming and video conferencing with performance comparable to that on the ground.
Can guarantee that Wizz will become the first airline to charge for it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's part of Elon's T&Cs that the service needs to be offered to passengers free of charge. That's why no one's monetising it.
Delete"Can guarantee that Wizz will become the first airline to charge for it."
DeleteCan guarantee you are clueless.
In order to connect to the service you are requested to provide private information to the service , such as traveler ID, email, frequent flyer number etc. depends on the airline. So therefore it is free, because the airline can collect your data for invitations to join their program, for deals, newsletter etc.etc.... win/win situation.
DeleteNo it can't and no it doesn't.
DeleteWow 🤯, bravo Wizz Air. With all AI hype, and massive phone addiction this is going to be huge differentiator to Ryanair!
ReplyDeleteFor me it will be a reason never to use Wizz Air. 200 people scrolling TikTok reels on full volume with no headphones for three hours? No thanks.
DeleteOh well. Your loss
DeleteThere are 10000s of people with ADHD, autism, sensitive hearing etc. who experience anything from mild to severe pain when forced to listen to other people blasting out content on their devices. Personally I find it very painful and yet selfish people fail to see the misery they cause.
DeleteI agree with you on people being insensitive, but if you suffer from sensitive hearing, airports and airplanes are the last place you should be.
Delete@14:07 There's some groundbreaking tech you need to know about in 2026 - noise cancelling headphones. You should give them a shot. They're typically expensive but worth every penny if people scrolling TikTok on full volume bother you so much.
DeleteWizz added as much passengers as Ryanair in the month of May compared to last May. Crazy
ReplyDeleteRyanair is in a state of stalemate, all the max200 are delivered so expect Ryanair growth spree with max10 deliveries in h2 FY27 and FY28
DeleteThe Pratt engine issues have been resolved in new deliveries so W6 can have a double digit annual growth again.
DeleteResolved? They still have 30 neos in storage. One of their aircraft just returned to service after two years... It's far from being resolved.
Delete^
Delete"The Pratt engine issues have been resolved in new deliveries"
But I'm sure you got it the first time...
Well done Wizz 👏 great news for everyone
ReplyDelete..almost everyone..
DeleteYour move OU
ReplyDeleteActually it is your move JU.
DeleteOU already offers wifi on the A220s
DeleteYeah they offer it on paper, try using it
DeleteMost of the time it's not working plus they don't offer Starlink
Delete^ LOL, I'm sure you have flown on OU's A220s...
DeleteActually it's well documented that their wifi does not work on most planes
DeleteBut that you can NOT read at expert's blog
DeleteHow dare you saying a single bad thing on OU? Everyone knows they are perfect. And what if wifi is not working on Bright and Shiny? Who cares for wifi, you can have wifi on almost all others. But off runway excursions, that's what others don't have and they offer. In addition to teeth breaking crackers in cardbord boxes in Business. That's also something others don't offer. Plus wide range and big choice of destinations in both Minken and Vrankvurt. So, please, no more bad words on OU. They proved to be the best for long time now. Best feeder. And best foreign ass kisser. Congratulations!
DeleteHilarious
Deleteoh no, half the plane watching noisy TikToks with no headphones ....
ReplyDeletePeople already use headphones when they watch stuff they've downloaded. Why would it be different now?
DeleteThat's crazy! Well done Wizz
