Zagreb Airport handled 438.575 passengers in June, representing an increase 213 travellers on the same month last year. Aircraft movements declined 2.9% to 4.478. During the first half of the year, Zagreb Airport welcomed 2.219.552 travellers through its doors, up 3.1%, or an additional 66.981 passengers.

Surely the prices on the coast are getting too high, with he combination of the Germany, UK and other markets cooling down

DeleteNot really. Its still very popular. There are alot of people in the UK and Germany who are more than able to pay the prices.

DeleteAnd increase in Dubrovnik and Zadar?...For sure tourist numbers shouldn't grow forever in Croatia. If they would then whole coast would be even more destroyed. Anyway, no worries for Croatian tourism. It won't disappear...never...
DeleteGuys regarding tourism in Croatia, our main markets have such a holiday schedule that May saw huge increase and June decrease in arrivals. That's normal, overall y-on-y H1 was slight plus.

ReplyDeleteSame as last year, I think. More direct options to the seaside in June, so the people choose direct connections over transferring at ZAG. The more flights Adriatic gets in the shoulder season, the less for Zagreb…

ReplyDeleteHaving two airlines based at the airport, one of them major LCC, the other one flag carrier with significant increases in capacity, does not guarantee significant airport passenger growth.
ReplyDeleteI fly every year to Croatia in the month of June. Saw less tourists on the coast and prices have definitely gone up. When I left out of Zagreb Airport, there were only around fifty passengers on the early morning Lufthansa A320 flight to Frankfurt. I also saw this last year, but this year looked worse. The Croatian Airlines A320 flight last year only had around forty passengers. Maybe June is not a good month to use to measure, but these flights use to be full in prior years.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to go to Brac this summer but comparing with other destinations it was just not logical. Booked two vacations Valencia and Crete instead.
DeleteI live in Dubrovnik and it's definitely a lot less tourists than last year (yeah I know the data from Dubrovnik airport, but I also know what my eyes see), and everybody working in tourism (which is pretty much everyone in Dubrovnik) agrees that the season is not good. For the first time in more than 15 years a lot of empty tables can bee seen during peak dinner time in restaurants in Dubrovnik old town. By the way statistics confirm this, Dubrovnik region had 4% less arrivals in June than last year.
