Ljubljana Airport recorded its busiest July to date, surpassing both its pre-pandemic and pre-Adria Airways bankruptcy figures from 2018 and 2019 for the first time in eight years. The airport welcomed 208.638 passengers during the month, representing an increase of 14.9% on last year, 0.6% on 2019 and 4.9% on 2018. It also recently welcomed its millionth passenger of the year, reaching the milestone three weeks earlier than in 2025. The passenger travelled on a Swiss flight to Zurich.
Fraport Slovenia Managing Director Jürgen Deischl said on the occasion of the milestone: "Welcoming the millionth passenger exactly three weeks earlier than last year is a clear sign of the continued momentum of Ljubljana Airport. It reflects growing demand, additional airline capacity and the successful expansion and diversification of our flight network. This milestone is the result of the dedication of our airport team, the trust of our airline partners and the close cooperation of all key stakeholders. Our ambition is to further strengthen Ljubljana Airport's position as the airport of choice for Slovenia and the wider Alpine-Adriatic region by expanding connectivity, ensuring reliable operations and an excellent passenger experience".
During the January - July period, Ljubljana Airport handled 998.876 passengers, an increase of 14.7% or an extra 128.019 travellers. The airport now anticipates over 1.7 million customers in 2026.

Looking at the numbers, EasyJet might be the 2nd biggest airline next summer with LTN added. Anything more to come from them?

DeleteA while ago there was an article here on how they were looking at opening a route to LJU from outside of the UK, so they are (were) clearly interested in expanding their LJU operations, but that"s all we know and can say. Everything else is just guessing. At the end of the day, their financial calculations will be the decider if any of the routes are worth launching.

ReplyDeleteI like the aircondition they have installed for the jetbridges. This I call proper and respectful service. In ZRH we dont have it, which shows well how much respect they have for their customers but also airport employees.

Totally agree. JFK's Terminal 1 also either doesn't have them or they weren't working, and NYC gets quite humid and hot in the summer...
DeleteIn ZRH boarding sometimes is so slow that u are in 10 minutes stuck in their glass jetbridges with temps of 45 C. Absolute inacceptable behavior towards customers, especially also to eldery people or people with illnesses.
DeleteIf they could only do something with the system of disembarking via narrow "chicken" stairs. Not to mention climbing from the apron through the other narrow stairs to te the jet bridge first if you arrive with ATR for example.
