Lufthansa begins flights to Dubrovnik and Split
The 2009 summer season started today and will last until October 25. While airlines from the EX-YU region have improved their schedules by introducing new services and frequencies foreign carriers have also strengthened their presence in the region. In particular foreign airlines are interested in Croatia this summer. The German airline Lufthansa will have two new destinations in Croatia. Lufthansa, one of the largest airlines in Europe in terms of overall passengers and the flag carrier of Germany, will provide twice-weekly service from Split to Munich from today. Tickets will cost 122 Euros inclusive of taxes and fees. Lufthansa will also provide weekly service from Dubrovnik to Munich at a price of 124 Euros. In cooperation with Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa already has eight flights daily from Zagreb to Munich and Frankfurt.

Although still a long way away Croatia Airlines and Lufthansa have agreed on code sharing flights in the 2009/10 winter season. From October 25 Croatia Airlines will code share on Lufthansa flights from Munich to Doha and from Frankfurt to Doha while Lufthansa will continue to code share on Croatia Airlines flights to Podgorica.
