Soon in Rijeka
The national carrier of Romania, TAROM, will commence charter flights from Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport to Rijeka on June 14. Flights are set to operate once per week, every Tuesday. This is welcome news for the Croatian airport which hopes to see the number of passengers using its facilities significantly increase following a disastrous 2010. However, early statistics for 2011 paint a bleak picture for Rijeka.

The national carrier of Romania will continue its seasonal summer charters to Dubrovnik, after 2 sucsesfull years of operations. Flights to Dubrovnik will begin on June 16. The service will operate twice per week, every Thursday and Saturday and will operate with the regional ATR72 aircraft.

On the other hand, ČSA Czech Airlines has discontinued its seasonal summer flights from Prague to Dubrovnik and Split but will be increasing its frequencies to Zagreb, which was the airline’s first international destination back in 1930. Yesterday, low cost easyJet began flights from London Gatwick to Zagreb.

Another error. OK flights to SPU were scheduled services, albeit during the summer timetable only.

Also OK's flight to Dubrovnik was a scheduled service, not a charter!

Could you please provide more information on CSA increasing its frequency to Zagreb? I have checked OAG data, but it still shows only one flight a day between PRG and ZAG ...

Total mistake. SPU and DBV to PRG by ČSA were schedule lines. They will discontinue that but there will be charters on those lines.

New flights on ZAG-PRG route by OK are Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.

2purger: thank you for your information, looks like the new flights PRG-ZAG are not uploaded yet. Nice to see an increase in frequency! Also, would have been very surprised if CSA indeed stopped flying to SPU (and DBV) completely, but I guess they'll just hand over business to their charter daughter HolidaysCSA ...

And of course Tarom's promised flights to ZAG that never materialised...

Let's hope with all these announcements for RJK that the airport gets back on its feet, and encourages the national airline to also try their hand at some routes from there.

Side note, Just noticed Zagreb figures for January have been posted on there website. Up 10% (if I did my maths properly) compared to January last year but with less aircraft movements.
