Adria heading to Łódź
Adria Airways will launch flights from Munich to Poland’s third largest city, Łódź, as the Slovenian carrier continues to expand its business outside of its country’s borders. Flights to Łódź will operate up to six times per week with the service to be inaugurated on March 30. Tickets will be put on sale next week. It will be the first time Adria will operate scheduled flights to Łódź, its second destination in Poland as the national carrier will launch services from Ljubljana to Warsaw on April 1. Adria’s latest choice of destination continues to fuel discussion it will be feeding the network of its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa yet again. There are currently no flights between the Polish city and Germany. In addition to Ryanair operating flights to three destinations out of the city, there are no other airlines flying into Łódź. On April 2 Adria will launch services from Tirana to Frankfurt, providing transit passengers to Lufthansa. The flights complement Adria’s existing services out of Pristina to both Frankfurt and Munich, as well as Ljubljana.
Last year Adria announced it would open a base at Verona Villafranca Airport in Italy. The Slovenian carrier will initially feed the bases of airlines owned by the Lufthansa Group with flights to Vienna (Austrian), Zurich (Swiss International Air Lines) and Brussels (Brussels Airlines). The airline has been awarded rights to operate routes from Verona which have been previously dropped by Italian airline Air Dolomiti, which is owned by Lufthansa. Adria also discussed the possibility of opening a base in Klagenfurt in Austria this summer. Łódź is the latest destination in the Slovenian carrier’s major network expansion this summer which will see it launch flights from Ljubljana to Prague, Warsaw and Kiev in addition to the Tirana - Frankfurt service.

ReplyDeleteWhy, clearly Adria can't compete with larger carriers must do what it can to attract revenue and if that means juggling destinations and routes, so be it.
DeleteI think what Adria is doing is very smart and could only work for them in a long term, they saw and try to exploit the niche, in the EU all EU based airlines can operate from any airport with in the EU, as long as they meet EU norms.
I see no problem in what Adria is doing, and it could be quite profitable for them, they're one of few airlines that fly to Loodz and connecting it with Munich is a smart move, they can take monopoly RyanAir has on this route.
Because competing with RyanAir is exactly what a legacy Balkan airline wants to do.

DeleteHmm so if it's about opening the Star Alliance door then how come the local alliance partner did not do it? Heck, Lot doesn't even fly there while SAS is pulling out and Ryanair is cancelling Liverpool. That should be enough of an indicator to as what kind of market Lodz is.
DeleteLot has a rather good network when it comes to linking Polish cities with Vienna, Munich or Frankfurt. If there was any money to be made in this city then Lot would have been there already. Unless Adria knows something we don't.

Pritom je ostvareno 4.147 poletanja i sletanja, što je porast od 33 odsto, dok je u kargo saobraćaju promet robe povećan 20 odsto u odnosu na januar 2013.

In order to achieve 4 mil pax, BEG needs to have I think 13 % pax increase per month. And now it has more than as double as that. Cant imagine the July and August figures...

Ok, then you can tell us, since you're so smart, what was the condition last year with Jat (how many airplanes did they use, how many passengers did they have, etc.) and how important is 29% passenger growth with 33 % growth in airplane operations. Thank you in advance!

DeleteNo. Etihad plane entered the runway 12 and was on hold to takeoff... Either it was AC that made mistake and told them to enter runway or Etihad did it without permission.
ReplyDeleteThat's why first plane had to go around, and because of it, Etihad couldn't takeoff and had to wait another to go around, other 2 planes were holding, so when Etihad took off, then they all landed normaly.

There seems to be no public outcry in Slovenian media at all,which only proves how the people there have either become dumb or simply gave up on everything.

I think the most of the guys who complain about BEG and JU off topics are Croats. People do not find this topic interestiiiiiing!!! It does not say anything against the admin, who is like some kind of a journalist, really good one, with good connectios with people in aviation business. Simply, this topic does not attract attention. When there were Croatia related topics that were interesting, or about Sarajevo or Skopje topics, people who are Serbs at this blog, commented on the topic. Here, nobody is from Lodz or Munich, there are few Slovenes who actively participate, and people discuss about other things...

Remember that Air Baltic had good loadfactor on its Belgrade flights and most of them were transfering to Peterburg.
This year Air Serbia should "attack" some other airlines if they want to be successful.
DeleteWhat I mean by that is that they should start to fly to some destinations before some other airline opens it.
By that I mean especially Madrid (Iberia), Saint Petersburg (Rossiya - Aeroflot), Hamburg (Germanwings) and maybe Helsinki (Finnair) or Ankara (Turkish Airlines).
Also they should go double daily for some routes (Amsterdam, London, Berlin) so that they keep other airlines from starting to fly there.
Good for Adria. it is the only ex yu airline that had the balls to do anything out of its home base borders. For that it should only be applauded. Haters will always find something to complain about... I love that Air Serbia is becoming strong ...brings new connections to the region which is great, why hate that,...or the fact that Adria is doing its part for that matter...all great news..
