Belgrade starts second phase of terminal overhaul

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport commenced work on the second phase of the overhaul of its Terminal 1 building on Sunday. During this time, the hall connecting terminals one and two will be closed off to passengers, who will be able to access both buildings using their respective entryways. Check in and passport control will be unaffected at Terminal 1 during this time. The overhaul entails capacity expansion, new commercial space and a new automated baggage sorting facility. The newly refurbished hall between terminals one and two will feature 28 new check-in desks. Work is expected to be completed by April 2017. Earlier this month, the airport opened a new de-icing platform and outlined further infrastructure projects planned for 2017.

Hospital or crematory? Ugly. They should have kept a green accents and original color combinations with some modernization. Another failure.

I think the idea is to preserve the original modernistic look from the 1960, but so that it is functional for 2017.
Old Dubrovnik town is "oldfashioned" too ;)

Does anybody know, can BEG handle two B777 in the same time, is there enough space ? But i think that they are connected to airport building with air bridge of course.

Used to handle 3 DC-10s and either a 742 or a L1011 simultaneously many moons ago, don't see a reason why it couldn't do it again...

Svi objekti izgradjeni na aerodromu pripadaju proslosti. Ne impresioniraju i pored preuredjenja, dogradnji... Jedini pravi objekat dostojan dvadeset prvog veka po opremljenosti i operativnosti jeste nova Zgrada SMATSA kod parkinga. Posle ulaska koncesionara u ovoj godini, dolazi vreme stvarnog ulaska u savremene aerodrome u ovom delu Evrope. Tu pre svega vidim gradnju Treceg terminala i ostalih objekata buduceg vazdusnog centra na Nikoli Tesli. Od Vlade i ministarstava Saobracaja i finansija prvenstveno, zavisice duzina vremena uvodjenje Srpse vazdusne luke u nivo stvarno respektabilnih Evropskih vazdusnih luka.

I can't see the resemblance btw the DBV and BEG terminals. DBV is modern and contemporary. I didn't see any 1960s cladding I must admit

He was talking about the city and not the airport. They are preserving the original look. You haven't even seen the finished product so reserve your negativity and judgment (caused by other things, not a rendering) until you see the actual finished product.

You have not seen the finished product and have no clue what it will look like. When you do you can pass your negative foul judgment because you and me both know that even if they built a spaceship your comment would be the same.

I'm not sure what tangent you are on? I like the 1960s chic with a cost effective refresh. Why would you build a space ship as a terminal? I'm confused?
