The operator of Podgorica and Tivat airports, the state-owned Airports of Montenegro, recorded a net profit of 4.332.070 euros in 2016, which is six times greater than the previous year. According to the company's financial report, Montenegro Airlines is indebted to the operator to the tune of 19.2 million euros. Last year Podgorica and Tivat airports handled a combined total of 1.852.710 passengers. This figure is expected to be surpassed in 2017. During the first four months of the year, the two welcomed 317.608 travellers through its doors, up 18.9%, while the number of aircraft movements stood at 687, which is down 9.8%. The Montenegrin government recently outlined plans to put the airports up for concession.
The only state-owned company that is profitable, but nevertheless, it needs to be privatized. Well done to the Prime Minister Duško Marković alias Radiator Heater and the government! That's the spirit!
