Qatar Airways has launched flights to its third destination in the former Yugoslavia today, with the airline introducing services between Doha and Skopje. Flights will operate four times per week, each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline will host a press conference in the Macedonian capital tomorrow morning, which will be attended by its Chief Operating Officer, Ehab Armin.

Commenting on the new route, Qatar Airways' CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said, “This summer is a busy one for Qatar Airways, as we continue our Eastern European expansion. Our new four-time weekly service to Skopje is a much-anticipated addition to our global route map, which will enable us to connect both business and leisure passengers to and from Macedonia. We look forward to welcoming our passengers on board flights to this captivating city”. The General Manager of Skopje Airport, Alper Ersoy, noted, “It is a great pleasure for us to welcome the first flight Doha - Skopje - Doha, a route that will be served four times a week, and the entrance of Qatar Airways on the Macedonian market, as one of the most appreciated brands in the airline business worldwide. Doha will be very attractive new destination for Macedonian citizens, for leisure and business as well, connecting them with more than 150 additional destinations in the world”.

Good news for Skopje and Macedonia!

I do hope that the flight doesn't overfly Iraq, and other hostile countries to Qatar as the map on the cake implies.
