NEWS FLASH
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport has registered its ninth consecutive month of strong passenger growth, with 198.138 travellers handled in July. The figure represents an increase of 21.4% on last year. The number of aircraft movements stood at 3.273, up 1.8%. During the January - July period, the airport welcomed 921.081 passengers through its doors, up 21.0%. A total of 6.602 tonnes of mail and freight were processed in the first seven months of 2017, representing an increase of 13.0% on last year. The growth comes as Adria Airways continues its recovery, while foreign airlines maintain their solid performance. July figures were further aided by the strong charter offering at the airport. Apart from Adria, which runs the bulk of leisure services from Jože Pučnik Airport, a number of other carriers are maintaining charters to the airport this summer, including AMC Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Nouvelair, Corendon Airlines, Arkia Israeli Airlines, Air Malta and Tunis Air, covering mainly Greece, Turkey and Israel.

Great news! Let's work on atracting new carriers to LJU now.
ReplyDeleteSo at the end of the year we can looking forward about 1.7 mio PAX
DeleteIt was about time. LJU had 1.67 mil pax in 2008.
Delete2008 was special - Slovenian EU presidency.
DeleteIf they continue with (yearly) average growth of 20%, they could surpase pre-crisis record of 2008 by few thousand pax. Also if they'll have e.g. 15% yearly growth, it will still be a lot better (some 200k better) than in 2016.
DeleteI hope I did the math right :)
getting back close on SKP
ReplyDeleteCould we expect 2 million next year? These are some spectacular results. LJU's main goal should be to position itself as the cheaper alternative to VCE and ZAG.
ReplyDeleteNot unless new carriers come and new routes are launched
DeleteMelania does job ;)
ReplyDeleteNow imagine how the growth would look like if they would attract more LCC traffic?
ReplyDeleteWhat's about Adria's flight to Moscow SVO? And why does not Adria move this flight to DME? All Star Alliance is in DME. Only this flight does not fit into Adria's three daily flight periods in LJU.
