NEWS FLASH

Adria Airways Switzerland has made a definitive decision to shut its Lugano base and suspend scheduled flights as of January 1. The airline previously hinted at the move, noting it would focus on becoming an ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance lease) provider instead. The carrier currently maintains scheduled services from Lugano to Rome and Geneva. According to Klaus Platzer, the CEO of Adria Airways Switzerland, an investment of some one million francs would have been required into the reservation system in order for the flights to continue beyond December 31. "Considering we carry 100.000 passengers each year, such an investment would never have been worth it", Mr Platzer said. He added that 4K Invest, the parent company of Adria Airways and its Swiss subsidiary, purchases loss making companies in a bid to turn them around within five to seven years before selling them off. Local authorities have expressed their disappointment with Adria's decision. Adria Airways Switzerland will cease operating ATR72 aircraft at the start of 2018 and will only retain six Saab 2000 turboprops.

What will happen with the SAABs? Now that Adria has extra aircraft lying around, they could operate the SKP-TGD-SJJ route the government is offering subsidies for

Now I'm pretty sure AA(4K) didn't buy Darwin on their own or that it was their idea.

Something is happening in Adria those days, but in negative way...
ATRs are gone from end of last week, transfered to Saarbrucken. In addition, some flights have been canceled during weekend and even today, Vienna flights have been operated by other companies (F100 and B738), while a fleet of CRJs, Saabs and even one A319 are sitting on the apron... so whats's going on? Crew problems??

ATR will be return to leasor, A319 AAP is on C check, AAR fly for Volkswagen, 2 CRJ900 fly for OS and both will be back on 30.11.2017. Nothing dramatical happening right now, just not enought planes for all plans and a lot of AdHoc charters.

JP will probl act more and more as the CR9 operator for LH LX OS there where a CR9 ops is best economical option. Smart move
Leasing old planes and wetleasing own a/c is saving them bucks
German style: SLO people are 2nd class people so let them fly cheap old ac and we even earn money with it. Welcome to reality...
