Krešimir Kučko becomes Gulf Air CEO

The former CEO of Croatia Airlines, Krešimir Kučko, has been officially named as the new CEO of Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air. Mr Kučko assumed his responsibilities at the airline yesterday and will oversee the introduction of a new fleet at Gulf Air, with the arrival of 39 aircraft from next year. Waleed Abdulhameed Al Alawi will be his deputy. Gulf Air has 29 Airbus A320neo-family jets on order, as well as sixteen Boeing 787 Dreamliners and ten Bombardier CS100s. Gulf Air's Chairman, Zayed Bin Rashid Alzayani, said, "On behalf of the airline’s Board of Directors and executive management team, I welcome Mr Kučko to the Gulf Air family. He brings with him exceptional industry knowledge that I am confident will add considerable value to our business and I look forward to the journey ahead for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier”. The unprofitable Manama-based airline, once the Middle East's largest, has been in steady decline since 2002 after several countries withdrew from their participation in the carrier to form their own, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. It has since been battling with debt and massive losses.

      Hahahahahahahaha

      A mi to govorimo o uspješnoj kompaniji koja se je ukinula 90% linija, ima gubitak svake godine od 300 milijuna USD, i nema pojma što će sa 100 novih aviona koji bi trebali doći na ukinute linije. Baš su svaki puta do sada dobro analizirali.

    I can imagine how excited he will be with the ability to order new airframes. Gulf Air are in the process of ordering additional A350, or 787s.

    God knows I don't have many good things to say about KK, to say the least. However, what is way, waay funnier to me are the business "experts" on here, still parroting off of one another the selling of the 5 LHR slots, while KK goes on to earn big bucks in Bahrein. Literally laughing all the way to the bank.
    And speaking of slots...better to sell off barely half of the London slots in order to cover the company's running costs, than to rely on the state tit to cover the annual losses in tens of millions of euros. Like in the case of another ex Yugoslavian airline. :))
