NEWS FLASH

Rijeka Airport has held talks with Croatia Airlines over the potential introduction of new flights after the carrier outlined it would end one of its two international seasonal services from the city (London Heathrow). Zlatko Komadina, the prefect of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, said the airport is seeking additional frequencies to Munich, as well as services during the low season. Mr Komadina noted that Croatia Airlines agreed to look into potential winter operations but could not add any new routes this coming summer due to capacity constraints. "Just a few days later they announced the introduction of a new route from Dubrovnik, so they do in fact have an aircraft available. I would urge Croatia Airlines' management to use credible facts in future discussions with us", the prefect noted. Rijeka Airport handled 142.111 travellers in 2017, down 2.2% on the year before.

hahahaha what a comedy. They don't have available plane to add 4th rotation during the summer (Dash) on the route from MUC to RJK, and just few days after that we read about new added frequencies on the route to Saint Petersburg, CPH from SPU, MUC from ZAG, etc. Such a shame of one airline!

      Shame of a comment!
The airline is making their decisions based on economical considerations and not on comments from some politicians who maybe habe as much knowledge of aviation as I have of brain surgery (none at all)
MIC-RJK is a 4-5hour car drive compared to 10h drive to DBV.
Also in DBV much more of a “hub” for OU during the summer months and I hope really that this route will work out for them ! :)

relax man. If u can, try to get Condor's analyze of the route FRA - RJK and than u can repeat to me that my comment is shame. If u don't have anything else to say, please shut up and do not write anything. Don't care about politicians, especially not about this one. I'm talking about numbers and facts and if OU is modern company on open market than u will not lie to anyone, u will say - we can not see potential in Rijeka, no "we do not have any spare plane for that route".

btw no one say here that MUC-DBV shouldn't be launched (even there will be strong competition with Lufthansa, Eurowings and Transavia, they just asked to add one more rotation between Rijeka and Munich and they told they do not have any aircraft available for that. Shame of understanding the comments!

Ok Anonymus 11:56 sorry for that got your comment wrong.
You’re right they should have clearly marked their point towards RJK.

it is absurd that Rijeka airport has so few flights - nothing from London, Brussels, Amsterdam. Paris, Rome, Dublin and yet they talk about Munich...when people can drive from there to the region. Huge catchment area including Crikvenica coast, islands of Rab, Losinj etc which are NOT easy from Zagreb or Pula airports. A disgrace.

Munich is good airport for connections to LH network and there is also some demand for P2P passengers.

that's not the same. In AMS you can make connection, also in BRU. This is just an LCC airport in area of this two bigger.

Postoje jasne analize. Ryanair to leti zahvaljujuci subvencijama no Condor je napravio analizu i pokazalo se poprilicno opravdano. Za OU bi bilo jos i bolje jer bi putnici direktno mogli konektirati na Star Alliance grupu.

such a shame for OU not to fly any destination from Rijeka, except Munich. Ok, Rijeka is not Dalmatia (SPU, DBV) but it's third largest city in Croatia and main port, also Kvarner is one of the bussiest tourist regions in Croatia (if is not number 1., not sure). I believe there is possible destionations which can work from Rijeka and OU already flies to that destinations from other airports in Croatia. For example Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome...
