NEWS FLASH

Croatian ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) specialist Trade Air will purchase a second Airbus A320 aircraft in order to continue growing its operations. Airstream International Group has been exclusively mandated by the airline to source the jet for an outright purchase. Trade Air has been in operation since 1994 and currently owns and operates one A320, as well as two Fokker 100s. Furthermore, it leases a Jetstream J32 turboprop to perform a range of public service obligation flights between Croatian cities.

It says - ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) specialist. It means they lease their planes and crews to other airlines.

As anon11:03 said, they lease planes to other companies, for example last summer they flew for Air France on domestic routes in France, also A320 was based almost whole summer season in TLV. F100 was two years ago part of OU fleet, etc.

But also, they have regular routes, for example with J32 on PSO lines in Croatia.

I'd love to see F100 during the summer season on some PSO routes, especially now when they will have new A320. Probably that not gonna happen cus PSO says that they need capacity of min. 19 seats and they are paid for it, so F100 can be leased to some other company and earn more money that they would on domestic routes during the summer season in Croatia.

I like them. They could change their name though. Trade air is dreadful.

Not any more Sun Adria. And not any more lot of good stuff Trade Air had while Mr. Mihajlo Cvijin managed the company. And for sure today there is more glam in TDR, seen from the outside, but it's not only not nice to work for them any more, it's awful. ALL of their pilots, and ALL of their cabin crew, who started with them when Fokkers arrived, left the company. And only few engineers and ops people still there. It used to be small airline where people loved civil aviation and their colleagues and mates. Today, it's still small company, but with no "soul" like before. And I'm sad about that. Actually it could be compared with JAT/Jat and Air Serbia. Now everything looks good from the outside, but is fake and empty inside, at least for the people who live and have lived for flying.

Pa pametno oni to rade, ionako će OU trebati zrakoplova ovo ljeto pa ga mogu njima utrpat.

One interesting fact about Trade Air is that they were used to to fly journalists around Australia during one of the prime minister election campaigns about 15 years ago. No idea how they won this contract but they sent a F100 all the way to Australia for about 6 weeks.

Apparently there were no planes in Australia available for this task at that time because of the increasing demand of ‘fly in fly out’ operations caused by the then mining boom.

15 years ago they didn't have Fokkers. they bought Fokker in 2005. Australia was 11 years ago. And there were 2 Fokkers from Europe in Australia flying journalist for election campaign - one was Trade Air, the second one French.
