NEWS FLASH

Emirates will temporarily reduce operations to Zagreb from daily to four per week next year due to a runway upgrade project in Dubai scheduled to run for 45 days between April and May 2019. Zagreb is one of a number of destinations that will be affected by the closure of one of Dubai Airport's runways. According to "Airline Route", Emirates will maintain four weekly flights to the Croatian capital from April 16 until May 30, 2019. Services on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays have been closed for booking during this period. This coming winter season, Emirates will maintain daily flights between Dubai and Zagreb, up from five weekly last winter.

It'll affect number of destinations across the route network, not just Zagreb. Yes, April and May get really really busy on this route and Emirates will most likely lose significant revenue across the entire network, but work on runways must be done, it is one of the busiest airports in the world, and work needs to be completed sometimes. I just think Dubai Airport should have done the work in Jan-March time frame, as April-October is the busiest time for the airport. Zagreb airport also plans to perform maintenance and upgrades on runway in February and March next year. New layer should be added and new signalization, replacing old instruments which are now 15 years old.
