NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier Wizz Air will suspend flights from Skopje to Vaxjo in southern Sweden in mid-September due to poor demand. The last service between the two cities is scheduled to operate on September 16, after which ticket sales have been suspended. Flights between the two were introduced just a year ago on July 14. Wizz Air will continue serving Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg within Sweden from the Macedonian capital.

      Pitanje je kako ce LH odgovoriti (Ostrijan se vec raspadao pod njima) i da li mogu da izdrze i RA i WIZZ.

      I think they want to focus on the LTN,VIE, KUT and KIV bases and head westwards. It's been a long time with no new routes launched from the Balkans or Eastern Europe.

      Well let's see how they respond to Wizz Air launching BSL-BEG with a much better schedule and more flights (in winter).

    Pure BS. I work at VXO airport and we have FULL flights all of the summer. During Autumn and Winter we have everything from 100 - 130 as the lowest, so I don't buy this at all. Same with Tuzla. Tuzla has sometimes been very low but most of the time at least 120 - 150 pax. Very sad, but shows you can never trust the low cost airlines.

      hmm strange-NOT! Sell a ticket from VXO to SKP on average for 50€ or sell a ticket from VIE to NCE fro 80€ on average. Just a matter of utilizing your production where it is most effective.

      Anon 15:21 - Very nice comment, well said. Also VIE is 8 million rich market while SKP is 2 million poor one, so makes sense if you ask me.
      No wonder why they are starting routes earlier. This also explains why they cut routes in both SOF and OTP where FR is making their life harder:

      haters gonna hate. checkk wizzair.com prices for VIE then come back and sing your song. (good luck in finding anything more expensive then 50€ for all the routes that they have started)

      VIE is with no doubt, the new W6 gem. I also think Austrians were dieing to fly for less money. OS was a rip off and the LH is quite dominant, while VIE was too submissive and dependant on them.
      And this is just the beginning, Lauda and VY will step in but yet again, this is a very rich market so they will last for quite a while.
      Prices from SKP are very very cheap.
      I hope INI is not going to be affected with route cuts.

      @Anon. 16.01

      to return in your tone- stupid gonna stay stupid. SKP is easy ground for W6. They didnt have to do anything except taking Tax money and NO competition In VIE the situation is a bit different. LEVEL, LAUDAMOTION, EUROWINGS and WIZZ are going to compete for the same customer base starting NOW! WHY? Because it is a highly profitable market where you can use your resources more productive. Of course in the beginning you have to INVEST, and that is by attracting customers by low prices, because there IS competition. LEVEL just sold 100.000 tickets for 1 cent. Of course they could also have gone to SKP. but....

    Maybe Anon at 15.11 is right, I forgot one thing. The air travel tax that was added in Sweden this spring... most probably this is the reason, but also as others has pointed out, if there's a possibility to earn more on other routes, well then others have to go. That's life I guess...

    I think that they have 2 options. One is to increase Bratislava and second to launch new route most probably Prague

      Not gonna happen. They closed their PRG base and are left with very few destinations one of which is KUT and one god knows until when it will be running.

    They are making space for new route,as they will get the new subsidies.Plus VXO was route with really poor demand except in the summer season, where pax going to VXO were around 80-90 max and coming back 150. It was expected to be terminated. It is not true that they cut route and plane from SKP to feed VIE, as you may google they ordered many A320 and 321 which Airbus is delivering to them almost every 2-3 week. WIZZ know what they are doing.
