Ljubljana Airport growth slows

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport saw its passenger growth slow in July as it handled 198.911 travellers, representing an increase of 0.4%. This is despite the number of flight movements increasing 9.1% to 3.571. During the first seven months of the year, Ljubljana Airport welcomed 1.030.106 travellers through its doors, up 11.8% on the same period in 2017. It recorded 20.519 flight movements, an improvement of 4.8%. In a statement, airport operator Fraport forecasts overall annual growth in the low double digits.

  1. Its beacause of adrias crew shortages(that resulted in flight cancellations)?

  2. Anonymous10:39

I think there is a very good reason for the this drop but we are all unable to detect it. Yesterday you said it's because Slovenes use car but last July the increase was 20% I think.
JP has launched 6 new, relatively busy routes but also reduced its fleet leasing aircraft back and froth so this is perhaps the main reason.
I do think, however, we will see a very strong August due to the arrival of U2 and also a very busy winter with the launch of LJU-SXF. At the end of the day, LJU is expected to grow at 10% YTD.

    2. So we can expect around 1,9 milion this year?

    3. Anonymous11:00

And adria will maybe start LED this winter and aeroflot will also start to fly to SVO

    4. another very valid argument mentioned yesterday was that flight movements r up 9% and pax growth is only 0,4%.
either somebody is not getting their planes full or if JP uses SAABs already, they can be flying around all the time (thus increasing flight movements) but with 50 pax per flight can not contribute to an increased pax number at LJU

    5. Anonymous11:07

The Saab planes are incredibly elegant and give a sense of sophistication.

    6. Anonymous11:13

one has to become sceptical of the success of the new JP routes

    7. Anonymous11:21

1.75-1.80 realistically for 2018. Which is good enough.

  3. Da se mene pita LJU jedino može rasti ako dovedu nove partnere. ZAG ima BA, IB, QR, A3, EK, DY... Jedine dvije spomena vrijedne aviokompanije koje ima LJU a nema ZAG su AY i U2. Ajde dobro. Još i W6

    1. You forgot TK, HV, JU, YM,...

Turkish flies to Zagreb, two daily flights, Finnair, is one of the carriers that is looking at starting Zagreb, either 2019 or 2020. Helsinki - Zagreb numbers are good for OU.

Zagreb needs to attract, EasyJet, Finnair, SAS, Aer Lingus, Air Baltic, Tarom, Ukraine International, TAP and Alitalia.

Ukraine international is coming to Zagreb next year, EasyJet, SAS and Air Lingus are also likely new arrivals in 2019.
