NEWS FLASH
American Airlines is seeking bilingual crew with fluency in English and Croatian. Apart from the necessary language skills, other requirements include a high school diploma, at least twenty years of age, possession of a valid US or foreign passport with applicable visas and the right to work in the United States. No prior airline experience is required. All candidates must be willing to be based from any of American Airlines' base locations including Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Ft Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, San Francisco, St Louis and Washington DC. American Airlines will launch seasonal summer flights to Croatia next June from Philadelphia to Dubrovnik. Further requirements, as well as the application form, can be found here.
Yeah, I doubt many Croats have a Croatian passport and a right to work in the US. Those that do are certainly not looking to be AA cabin crew. lol
ReplyDeleteOn any flight from ZAG to MUC or FRA I usually see more than one passenger with a US passport and who speaks fluent Croatian. It’s happened so many times now that I’m not even surprises when I see that.
DeleteI am speaking about Croats with a Croatian passport who have a worker's visa for the US. Very few of them would be interested in applying as they aren't that many.

Why was Garuda interested in OU? Was it because of the Heathrow slots back in 2013?

DeleteSo, you are supposed pay for your own trip to the USA, pay for your rent while you attend training and again move to a location which American decides you should move to, pay for rent while you work, and pay income tax.

With unemployment in Croatia at almost 7% and falling, with companies in Croatia struggling to get staff, and with living costs a fraction of that in US, yes AA will have hard time to find staff, There might be few, but it'll be mostly cause they have ulterior motives, i.e move to US, get a green card, marry a billionaire. lol

DeleteThey are looking for people who are fluent in English and Croatian. There are many, many young people born in the USA that can fill these positions. No visas required. They are children off Croatian parents. No need to go to Croatia to find employees.
DeleteHi, these comments Made me chuckle. I am actually one of the people that applied for this job. I am Croatian, raised in the United States, posses both US as well as Croatian passports. I speak fluent Croatian, since my parents were smart enough to use the language in our household. I am very thankful for that. As for the pay, AA pays almost 30 an hour for flight attendants. You are looking at language bonuses and pay away from base. So here we are almost at 34 dollars an hour. They give you a minimum of 80 hours a month but you can pick up more hours. Some fly 120 hours a month. Do the math folks! American is one of the best paying Airlines for flight attendants and they have a friendly crew. As for housing, training is unpaid yes, but it’s 7 weeks and they provide housing and food. As someone living in Croatia, living in the US alone with no family support might be difficult but you have a right to fly home on standby. Hope this clears some confusion. A najbolja stvar je da će biti let iz Amerike za Hrvatsku i to puno znaci ljudima koji žive u Americi i to je dobro za Hrvatsku ekonomiju. Pozdrav
