Ljubljana Airport registers record year

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled a record 1.812.411 passengers in 2018 representing an increase of 7.7% on the previous year, or an additional 129.366 travellers. The number of aircraft movements stood at 35.512, up 3% on 2017. In a statement late last year, Ljubljana Airport's General Manager, Zmago Skobir, said, "It is predicted that the high growth rate we registered in 2018 will ease and that future growth will be more stable". Growth in 2018 was fuelled by Adria Airways, which launched a number of new routes, as well as foreign airlines, in particular low cost carriers.

Disappointing end of the year. I was hoping LJU would perform much better... Could they make it past 2 million in 2019?

With new flights from Berlin and Amsterdam they should have reached last years´s figures in NOV and DEC. ZAG managed 5% growth despite having only KE and according to many here, they were flying empty and many moved to LJU from ZAG.

  3. Despite everything (Adria and its problems) 2018 was great for LJU. I am worried though for 2019. It will be very difficult to achieve growth in 2019 if there won't be new carriers and services from LJU.

Not only that but JP seems to be cutting most new destinations that it launched in 2018. I think only SOF will stay.

If JP goes bankrupt, numbers will decline rapidly. Rumour is they owe more than 1 mio EUR to Slovenian Air Traffic Control alone.

It's not a rumour, it was officially disclosed that Adria owes 1.038.789 EUR to Slovenia Control and that they didn't pay a cent since 10th September.
