The Sukhoi Civil Aviation Company has allocated the first two of fifteen Superjet 100 aircraft for Adria Airways. According to the "Planespotters" portal, the first two jets will be registered S5-AFL and S5-AFM in Slovenia. The first, which is due for delivery, is just over two years old and was formerly operated by CityJet. The second aircraft, which is also two years old, is one of more than a dozen manufactured that have not been handed over to operators in the past. Both are the RRJ-95 variant, meaning they can seat a maximum of 98 passengers and are the largest version of the jet.
The second of the two aircraft, which have been allocated to Adria at this point, is the long range version of the Superjet. As a result, it can fly up to 4.578 kilometres compared to the 3.048 kilometre range of the other aircraft. The SSJ100 has a single-engine option, the SaM146, manufactured by France's Safran in cooperation with Russia’s United Engines. The Russian manufacturer is already planning a new generation of the regional jet with extended capacity, new wings and new engines, which is expected to appear after 2025. The Superjet 100s will be supplied to Adria under a long-term lease and will be financed by European banks.
The President of the Sukhoi Civil Aviation Company, Alexander Rubtsov, previously said Adria would likely take delivery of its first SSJ100s in April. However, in order for this to materialise, the Letter of Intent signed between the manufacturer and the Slovenian carrier must first be firmed up. The Russian Minister for Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said late last month, "I expect that the orders will be firmed up in the near future. The contract is quite complex and entails both the delivery of new SSJ100s, as well as the decommissioning of the CityJet aircraft of the same type which will be transferred to Adria". He added, "We will be able to start deliveries in 2019. It will take two years for all of the contracted aircraft to be delivered".
Had no idea there was a long range version of the SSJ. Seems these planes are coming to Adria after all.

Background negotiations are still taking place, the main point of disagreement between Sukhoi and Adria is the 4K's insistance, that Sukhoi injects JP with fresh capital. Which would basically mean that Sukhoi is paying Adria to fly their jets.

DeleteVery unlikely SSJ would make from DXB to LJU without fuel stop, at least not on all occasions. Direct distance is 4300km and you usually never fly exactly direct around Middle East. Plus if there is really strong wind from the west, it will reduce range significantly.
DeleteThat's similar to Adria's CRJ which was recently doing a charter from Ljubljana to Hurghada and had to land in Larnaca because the plane couldn't make it because of strong winds.

I think it is number 3. Simply, western companies don't want to buy Russian aircraft, no matter that half of the components on the plane are western made.

They are in the business of selling airplanes - if it's in their interest, the contract would be ready in five minutes. I think Sukhoi wasn't ready for the amount of scamming going on in Adria. It would be hard to grasp the fact, that an EU state sold a company to low life scammers - and oh, the irony, German scammers.
Everything is always up in the air with Adria. I mean they opened and closed an entire base within 2 months.

ReplyDeleteMe too. It is the biggest mistake in Adria's 50+ history. From an airline with no Russian made planes throughout its entire existence, it will now have a predominately Russian fleet while wet leasing western made aircraft that everyone wants.

And not because I'm a fan of the SSJs (I don't like them at all...especially the low-bypass engines, which are really poor). *However*, I do believe it is possible that JP could declare insolvency if they don't get them (and the capital injection from Sukhoi). probably AFA/AFB or AFC.they are the oldest in Adria's fleet, deliverd to adria last year from air nostrum.flew last year AFB and it was indeed worn.however AAU and AAV are spotless, really liked those flights
