NEWS FLASH

Fraport Slovenia, the operator of Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, has received six bids from contractors for the construction of its new terminal, after a previous tender was annulled. The deadline for the submission of bids passed on March 8. The offers will be reviewed this week, after which a select number will be shortlisted and direct talks will be held with them. Construction of the new terminal could begin just before summer. The new facility will be located to the north-west of the existing terminal. The two will be joined to form a single functioning unit. The tender documents require for the contractor to build the new structure, undertake partial construction work in the existing terminal, build road infrastructure around the new facility and partially demolish the administrative building. The new 10.000 square metre terminal, valued at sixteen million euros, will feature a departures hall with 22 check-in desks, five security lanes, three baggage reclaim carousels, a new baggage sorting area, a large duty free shop, a new premium lounge, as well as new food and beverage facilities. The previous tender of the same type was annulled after the National Review Commission for Reviewing Public Procurement Award Procedures introduced new requirements for all capital project tenders. This has pushed back the start of the terminal's construction.

Wishing Ljubljana all the very best.
This prosperous land needs a true airport to represent its image.

Will they build the hotel too? Any plans?

It's interesting to see how Fraport will avoid this construction, as seat capacity for LJU dropped 5% in 2019.

Why will dropped? Jan was 3,3% increase... I do not understand, I apologize. Can you explain this? Adria will still working, do not worry.

Why the hell would Fraport want to halt the development of the airport? Its their job to make it better and more profitable.

Fraport isn't avoiding anything. The tender was repeated to avoid the mess that's currently happening with the tender for Karavanke tunnel. Insisting on the original tender would delay the project for at least a year. New tender only delayed it for 2-3 months.

Also, seat capacity from LJU will not drop in 2019. Adria will indeed drop some lines, but most discontinued flights only had 2 or 3 weekly departures with a 70 seat CRJ or 50 seat Saab. On the other hand Aeroflot, Air France and LOT will all increase their seat capacity and then there's also British Airways. All in all that means more seats for 2019, not less.

If you look around the airport, I wouldnt say they are avoiding construction. They are building new roads everywhere. Why would they do this if they didnt want to build the new terminal?
