NEWS FLASH

Greece's Aegean Airlines will increase its operations between Athens and Belgrade this coming winter season. The carrier will maintain five weekly flights between the two capital cities, up from three weekly. As a result, it will retain its summer frequencies over the winter months. The route will be operated by the Airbus A319 aircraft between Monday and Thursday and the A320 on Friday. Aegean Airlines codeshares on the service with Air Serbia, which itself plans to maintain daily flights between the two cities during the 2019/20 winter season.

Seems that the Greek business has discovered Serbia as the next place to be. Greek companies are massively present in many Balkan countries (telecoms, banks, construction...).

Greek export is also sky rocketing to KiM after the tarrifs.

Greek know how to do business for sure.

It's skyrocketting because Serbian companies are sending their goods to Kosovo and Metohija via other neighbouring countries.
As for Greeks, they were very present in Serbia before the crisis. They went away but I think it will be impossible for them to recapture lost market.

Not only daily but it's operated with A319/320. I guess route has matured enough not to need the Q400.

Aegean is also changing their timetable this winter, no more evening and morning flights.

    ATH-BEG 13.10-13.50
    BEG-ATH 14.35-17.20

Great times for connections both ways.

Not really. The evening flights were much better for connections.

Nikola Tesla airport has much bigger expansion. Aeroflot and Turkish doubled their flights, we must add to the list the ASL airlines comming to Nikola Tesla.

SU added the third last winter so there is no increase this winter. TK didn't add new flights, they can't even though by now they would have double daily on a widebody.

I think LOT is adding flights. They are starting new flights in September.
"The airline plans to increase its frequencies to Belgrade this summer from eleven to twelve per week starting in late September."

Not sure if they keep it during winter.

Nope from what I can see in the system they go back to 11 in winter. WAW is slot constrained and if there was room for expansion they would have double daily flights by now.

Following A3 expansion, in the first four month of 2019 JU lost around 5.000 passengers on BEG-ATH route which is decrease of 18%.
