NEWS FLASH

Split Airport has failed to open its new passenger terminal on time. The airport said it would welcome the first travellers inside the new facility by the end of June. No reason has been given for the delay, nor a new date for its opening.

The delay comes at a time Split Airport saw its busiest June on record. It handled 513.706 passengers through its doors, representing an increase of 8.2%. During the first half of the year, Split Airport handled 1.102.118 travellers, up 8%. It added an extra 81.490 passengers on the same period last year.

If you are not able to note that Bravo Hrvatska guy posts Hrvatska with capital H, then you should refrain from trying to be funny as well. Btw making big deal of few days even couple of months missed deadline in Split says more about you than about actual opening. And I wouldn't dare even to think what would your funny comment be in case of Berlin Brandenburg for example, if you know at all what I am talking about

it was often empty in both months

try this: open your calendar app and swipe left to May and April and display public and school holidays; can you see how SPU traffice matches perfectly the holidays?

pro tip: change your country/language settings before, if it is still on sr.

How about highly incompetent management? They have lost even a cleaning service in the peak of the tourist season. So the new terminal is incomplete and the old one is getting dirtier by the minute. Not to mention the runway that is falling apart and the fact that very little has been done to progress with runway extension and taxiways to be created. One full misery of the airport management.

Maybe I am wrong, but as far as I know, salaries at SPU airport are not only decent, but really nice, and much higher than average If one department, easily replaceable by outsourcing,
chooses to blackmail and strike in peak season, and management does not want to increase the costs by raising their salaries, I wouldn't call it bad management. On the contrary. And brand new terminal, financed by OWN money, no foreign investments and "investments", concessions or "concessions" is nothing, everyone could do it, but opening deadline missed be whole five days, wow what a proof of incompetence. And btw how competent are you to comment on this?

Well as for the runway judging by it's current length I would guess they would add less than 500 meters when extending and remodeling.
