Air Serbia wet-leases Boeing 767

Air Serbia has concluded a short-term wet-lease for a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft from Portugal’s EuroAtlatnic Airways. The jet will operate Air Serbia’s service from Belgrade to New York and back in the coming days. The Serbian carrier temporarily suspended flights between the two cities on September 24 until October 6 as its sole Airbus A330-200 had to undergo mandatory maintenance checks. “The technical check is performed every two years in line with industry standards and the airline was offered the option of two date periods. Air Serbia opted for the period when the aircraft was operating fewer flights with the least affected number of passengers”, the airline said. However, the A330-200, which is undergoing maintenance in Istanbul, will stay in a few days longer and will return to Belgrade by the end of next week.

The EuroAtlantic B767-300ER, which will operate on behalf of Air Serbia, is sixteen years old (registered CS-TSV) and features sixteen seats in business class and 246 in economy.

    YES!!
    JU has to lease a B767 all the time to complement the A330.
    The 767 is a classic and a true, reliable jet just perfect for JU.
    Really good news and hoping to see this jet in JU's fleet one day.
    Better two 767s rather than one 330....

      Air Serbia ne treba da se oslanja na gomilanje krntija iz prošlog veka već da proširi i obnovi flotu modernim i ekonomičnim letelicama. Današnji model korišćenja starudija se zasniva na povoljnom cenvniku Jat Tehnike koji čini da je jeftinije održavati krševe nego kupovati novo. Jat Tehnika je kao seoska automehaničarska garaža koja održava stojadine i golfove dvojke za pivo, prasiće i ostalu naturalnu robu. Ali će narednih nedelja biti sklopljen ugovor o njenoj privatizaciji čime će se promeniti i operating scope ove firme - naplaćivaće više i neće poslovati više po modelu "seci uši, krpi d...." čiji su rezultat krajnje razdrndane kabine letelica JU. I neće više moći da se rade C-checkovi "na crtu". Osim možda pod određenim uslovima. Ali će cenovnik usluga svakako porasti i najzad će biti opravdanije kupiti novo nego gomila krševe koji su malo-malo u hangaru.

      Hah koji suludi komentar . 767 je obična olupina i uglavnom se kompanije rešavaju tih aviona pošto su ne ekonkmične i imaju ogromne mehaničke probleme a za neke starije verzije 767 se više i ne prave delovi.

    A330 maintenance check was announced at the last moment, just two weeks in advance. Strange. Now we hear regular maintenance will take almost a week longer. Really strange.

      It's no conspiracy that ARA was out in February this year for weeks with Etihad providing their A330 as a backup but not this time. Trouble in paradise?

      I heard EY just don't have 330 pilots available for this period to help out at this time.
      Wet leasing of other airlines jets happens frequently across Europe. Especially with a fleet of only one.

    Iskulirajte malo, ne moze drzavna aviokompanija da propadne tako brzo i iznenada, ma koliko vi to zeleli.
    Pogledajte Adriju-mrcvarenje i klinicka smrt su trajali bukvalno godinama.

    Inace dobro je sto su iznajmili avion da nastave let za Njujork. Verovatno solidno kosta ovaj wet lizing, ali nece biti tu ne znam koliko dugo.

      verovatno su izračunali da im se više iznajmi wet lease nego nekoliko hiljada reroutova plus cancellation claims...čak i sa premijskom cenom zbog short notice requesta.

      American and Delta have 30 year old aircraft (e.g., 757, MD-80, still in use (planned to be phased out) so this 767 is relatively young. Delta's average plane age is over 15 years old.
