Bosnia and Herzegovina has probably the best layout of 4 airports across the country (regardless of administrative borders, entities etc) with enough people 1 to 2 hours from each airport by car. I mean, if we didvide it roughly we have this:
    - Sarajevo Airport area: 1.180.000 people (Sarajevo Canton, East Sarajevo and surrounding region, Central Bosnia, Zenica region)
    - Tuzla Airport area: 1.056.000 people (Tuzla Canton, Doboj region, Zvornik, Semberija, Brčko)
    - Banja Luka Airport area: 827.000 people (entire Krajina, Doboj region)
    - Mostar Airport area: 469.000 people (Herzegovina, western Bosnia).

Fantastic potential for all 4 airports to kill it and attract more passengers. I don't think we have seen a real expansion yet, especially with Sarajevo. It has a massive potential.

Too many airports for a country of 3.5 million people.

If road infrastructure was better then it could be served by SJJ and BNX. However roads are a disaster so airports are a necessity.

Too many? it's only four and each in different part of the country. Recent developments in all of them are proof all four can do a decent job. Long road ahead, but it's been quite good.

It makes absolute sense. Why should Bosnia just hand over the income to Croatia when it can collect it itself?!

Bosnian problems are not of logistic, economical or any other nature but political. Mostar is prime example.

There could have been a lot more of passengers if country has bigger domestic carrier. We rely on other country's carriers, which is ridiculous. Bosnia has a lots of people work and live outside the country, and when summer comes many of them come to visit families, but not much flights with domestic airliners. That means a lots if money goes to onother country airliner. For example, I'm traveling from Frankfurt to Sarajevo a lot, but all the time by Croatia Airline. I would like to fly be a Bosnian carrier. But they don't care. So sad.
