2018 was the European Supper Coup played in Skopje and around 20.000 Man Utd and Real Madrid fans fly in the country via SKP. That is the reason of the above average 2018 leaving not much room for growth in 2019. I do not remember the last month that had no growth and July is a lucky one not to stop the array.

Seeing this, potentially TAROM and ElAl will consider to start flying to SKP.
Not sure if this is transit tourism or there is some other logic how tourist numbers are calculated.

i think it's based on sleepovers and the truth is, you can not know which one is transit or not :(

      Romanians are pure transit.

Moscow, Kiyev, Prague, Bucharest and maybe Madrid, anything else could be just seasonal.

Funny thing is, largest airline in SKP, government subsidized Wizzair is not serving large majority of those top 15 tourist markets. Goes to show MK tourist and national interests are not really important to Wizz.

@Unknown SWE is nr.15 in July. August is their weakest month in MK for some reason (same as last year)

ESP is more then 100% growth this year (dont know where that came from)

There are a lot of spanish youngsters in Skopje. I was traveling in August to BCN and half of the plane were Spanish and half Macedonians going for vacation to Spain. LF was 100% and the flight was overbooked by 8.

      1. there were recent talks at the ISR embassy in MK about a flight SKP-TLV

      2. CRO is nr.5 tourist market in Ohrid in Aug. A 2-3 weekly ZAG-OHD on a DH8 is of low risk for OU if they have spare capacity at all

      3. Romanians are also in the top 10 in Lake Ohrid alone and their average stay there is >3 nights. Tarom with their ATR's could have the right aircraft if they wanted

      4. I totally agree that Wizz cares mostly about the MK diaspora

The romanians are just tourists on their way to the aegean sea

    12. Wizz cares about money. Couldn't care less if it's diaspora or not.

2.SRB - it's nice to see SRB going to top3, Ohrid is quite full with them. Polish and Dutch tourists also.
      5. RO - from where? Really surprised. Bulgarians are much more "present" daily.

Overall, an OK list, the surprises being SRB climbing and RO actually being there at all. Together with ITA.

@above RO is also nr.7 in July, and nr.11 in June. I would say its a mix of Romanians backpacking through the Balkans (also bus tours) and the ones that stop for a few nights in Skopje and Ohrid on their way to Greece.

This could be further enhanced with direct flights and there has been even a memorandum for establishing flights between both countries but nothing happened since last year

Excellent results. Continuous growth for such a long time is really impressive. If SKP adds some new destinations in 2020 it will definetely hit the 3 million passenger mark very soon. SKP is really becoming a regional hub. Keep it up SKP, BRAVO!

Look up hub in the dictionary or wikipedia before posting. SKP is exact opposite of a hub, it is point to point type of airport.

Don’t worry. You will understand it. Read again and again and again what i said. Oh, and inform yourself about the plans of SKP for the future, the concession of TAV holding, their plans and wishes regarding the airport and the way they want to massively increase the passenger number and terminal expansion which is going to be inevitable with such a strong growth. Have a nice day.
