Greek charter carrier Air Mediterranean will base a Boeing 737-400 aircraft in Pristina and replace its counterpart Orange2Fly on all routes. Furthermore, it will introduce a number of new services from the city. Air Mediterranean will progressively take over Orange2Fly’s operations to Basel, Dusseldorf, Munich and Stuttgart from February 5 onwards and will launch new flights to Friedrichshafen, Paderborn, Sharm el Sheikh, Malmo and Lyon. Orange2Fly, which was Pristina’s fifth busiest airline in 2019, during which it handled 232.669 passengers, will cease all operations from the city by the start of the 2020 summer season in late March. All of Air Mediterranean’s services have been contracted by tour operators, which have exclusive rights to sell tickets. So what happens to Orange to fly?

They will stop PRN. They are just chartered by tour agencies to fly these routes. Now the tour agencies found a new partner for whatever reason.

ReplyDeleteI can aready see them overselling tickets and leaving thousands stranded at different Airports!
I'm surprised any normal Airport in Europe would allow them to land and takeoff on their runways.

Also, if MUC, DUS, or STR (normal enough airports for me) have no issues with landing and taking off from their runways, then I am not sure anyone in the Balkans is in a position to complain about them.
Point is, a responsible Airport Authority does not simply simply hand out 1/5 of its entire bulk of passengers to an unheard Company with unknown owners!

ReplyDeleteAre there any news about Air Mediterannean? They should have started on Feb 06 to EAP Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, but Orange2fly is still flying. All three "aktive" Air Mediterranean B734 (SX-MAH, SX-MAI, SX-MAM) seem to have not been flown since days or weeks?
ReplyDeleteI think with today there is no sight on that airlines based in Kosovo and it seems its going to be further so. So unstable and unserious airline for more stable touroperators (4 of them) they made a huge mistake signing a contract with them on a very serious market that is booming.
DeleteSorry, Nor airline this Air Mediterranean nor those 4 tour operators are stable, but airport has numbers and facts are there WARNING be aware that they can easily bankrupt faster than what we saw in 2019.
