NEWS FLASH
The construction of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s new control tower has begun. Valued at 17.5 million euros, the project involves a new 75-metre, four-level, control tower located next to the existing air traffic control centre, opened in 2010. A two-level flight control centre will also be built at the base of the tower and linked to the air traffic control centre. The facility will be built over an area of 7.500 square metres. The existing control tower at Belgrade Airport, built in 1962, will be closed and repurposed following the completion of the new facility in a year’s time.
They might turn the old tower into a hotel, ideally an airside hotel

Any pix?
ReplyDeletePics of what? Construction started like 3 days ago.
DeleteConstruction started exactly one month ago. I will take some pics and post it.
DeleteBravo Srbija!
ReplyDeleteJust a question for the experts. Does the height of the tower matter in some practical way or is it just to have more space for the traffic control guys? Like height is better for some radars/sensors/whatever?
DeleteJust asking because it looks disproportionately high next to the other buildings.
The height of the tower will give air controllers the possibility to see the runway as well as all movements on the apron and taxiways at the airport.
DeleteThat makes sense, thanks
DeleteLooks great. Bravo BEG
ReplyDelete17,5 million is the price with our without the equipment ?
ReplyDeleteAir traffic controllers have one of the highest salaries in the world and perhaps this is not considered in the price. If the price does not include the equipment, then I think it is a bit too expensive for some 40m tower.
You could have at least read the article. It's a 75 metre tower.
DeleteOk, 75m but what about the equipment? That's a guzzling 2400€ / sq.m!
DeleteHow many air traffic controllers will there be?
Trying to find something to complain about. It includes a whole new flight control centre. Like I said try READING the article before complaining.
DeleteAnd they are upgrading all equipment.
