NEWS FLASH

The Macedonian government has issued a tender call for an airline to operate rescue flights for stranded Macedonians across Europe. The country closed its airports for commercial flights to stem the outbreak of the coronavirus Covid-19. Passengers taking these services will be obligated to pay for their ticket within fifteen days of their arrival in Skopje. The government has requested for flights to be operated from Berlin (for 377 passengers), Bonn (for 355 travellers) and Munich (for 183 passengers) to Skopje. Any airline can participate in the tender. Bids must be submitted by noon March 27, 2020. The state has already secured a rescue flight from Zagreb and Malta to Skopje, which will be operated tomorrow by Wizz Air. The services will be operated by an A320 jet.

Why pretend to have transparent and fair tender process when it's 100% certain Wizz will win. Emergency measures exist to allow governments to move swiftly in times like this and contract airlines without delay and without tender. Tender process during emergencies is a pathetic charade that will only have an opposite effect of transparency when Wizz is announced as a winner.

Why are you calling him pathetic when he is telling the truth. Facts are facts, sorry about that but Wizz Air is indeed holding the North Macedonian market hostage while ripping us off with high fares. Remember what happened when the government tried to bring a new player onto the market and what hissy fit Wizz threw. Crazy times.

How come there were no tenders in Slovenia, Austria etc where these sorts of flights are also taking place?

Countries that introduced emergency measures to finance and speed up response were also following their laws. Haters will be in ruins only when any airline other than Wizzair wins any kind of tender in Skopje. Until then it's obvious how things are run.

Tender!?! Just make a few phone calls or use a broker and within 1 hour you'll have it sorted. If you overpay, so be it. These are extraordinary times.
