NEWS FLASH

The Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) banning all carriers from coronavirus Covid-19 infected hotspots (Switzerland, Italy, Iran, South Korea and China) from operating flights to Serbia. The measure includes a ban on airlines from Switzerland, after three Serbian nationals tested positive to the virus after coming into contact with a person from Switzerland. Swiss International Air Lines maintains services from Zurich to Belgrade. Air Serbia has discontinued its flights to Switzerland’s largest city as well. The measure will also affect easyJet’s Geneva - Belgrade service. Switzerland is one of Serbia’s biggest air markets, while Zurich is one of Belgrade’s busiest destinations.

How come there is so much corona in Swiss? How many are infected so far?

I can only imagine how valuable BEG-BSL flights will become now. lol

BSL is aswell Switzerland, but Wizzair uses MLH code, so maybe Serbia thinks it belongs to France?! On the other hand Easjet uses the BSL code flying to BEG. Yesterday evening Wizzair was flying to INI!?!?

Easyjet can not fly from Switzerland because it is a Swiss registered airline. The NOTAM is related to countries, meaning companies registered in that country too.

Swiss are really silent and don’t want to harm their economy but they have 360 infected people which is relative to the size of the population second most dangerous country after Italy.

That truly is a lot for them especially since they have about 8 million people living there. Let's see what happens in the end with it all.

Switzerland meanwhile has over 600 cases and in terms of cases to number of population, we are 6th in the world. Switzerland is very economy friendly and they waited too long to take strict measures. My guess is that we soon will hit the 1000 mark but I doubt it will be that bad as in Italy where 100'000s of Chinese Gastarbeiters work in the textil industry. Many infections happened with these workers, returning from Chinese New Year holidays fm China

Why Serbia doesnt ban the flights to Germany, France and Spain, they have three times more infected people and USA double of Switzerland?

The measure was introduced because Serbian citizens got infected because of someone from Switzerland. Read the article!

It is only a matter of time before we have infections from Germany, Austria, Russia etc.
We should really close the borders on all traffic except cargo trucks.
      Before things get really ugly.
Italy so far has over 5% death rate in COVID-19 patients!

Good thing we are being proactive but are we overreacting?
