NEWS FLASH

Work on the refurbishment of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s existing terminal is advancing with work taking place on the expansion of duty free and food and beverage facilities, which will include an 882 square metre shopping area, a 372 square metre bar-restaurant, as well as more shops and brands. Construction is also taking place inside the airport-operated business class lounge. Parts of the new duty free have now been opened (pictured), although work is still ongoing. The refurbishment of the departure gates is expected to begin later in the month, with two gates by two to be overhauled at a time. The renovation of the terminal will be performed in several small phases so as not to impact traffic.

Wow looks so much nicer than before. It was very simple and depressing.

It looks okay but those ceiling lamps could've been much better. For example like the ones in ZAG:

And here, there is neat net covering the ceiling and having the lamps nicely looking:

Lets wait and see the overall look, but Vinci could've done much better in this aspect.

They do look sterile and like brought in from some other place.

One of the best thing about BEG is the nice view of the runway and apron.

Will they be changing the security so it isn't just before boarding? The way it is set up now looks quite inefficient and frankly I haven't seen it at any other airports except Algiers.

Looks inefficient? This is pretty similar to ATH after the centralized security screening. So yes, screening will be moved from gates.

ATH Is claustrophobic with these narrow corridors to gates. And the duty free area Aldo. Looks like a model airport compared to other airports of its importance and size.

At gate security is also what is used at Singapore airport - the world's top airport as voted by several industry stakeholders.

I am really perplexed as to where these comments are coming from - everyone here used to complain how gate security at BEG was a nuisance and outdated and how everyone uses centralized screening. Now ppl are complaining that the gate screening will stop. Smfh.

The gate screening was one of the best features at BEG.

All I heard past 10 years (yeah, I've been following this blog from the beginning) is how you are stuck in those waiting rooms, can't buy coffee, shop around bla bla. I am really leaning towards labeling these comments as hater comments as literally no one ever said anything positive about gate screening until BEG decided to get rid of it (finally).

Yesterday I went from BEG with W6 to BSL, first bad thing: W6 wants printed boarding cards, so go back to the Wizz Check in and request printing, A Terminal passport control closed, the gate was A08, so go back to the other passport control, go through the nice duty free, which starts from the right side after the passport control and turns left, where go get out at A02/03. So again walking back directon A08. Load on the flight was aprox. 75%
Pushback was 8 min. before scheduled time :)

Will BEG be able to handle the A380, even if it is being phased out but there will still be airlines using it?

Airport is starting to look better from passenger experience perspective. Refurbishment of the departure gates, new airside restaurant space and much improved duty free is long overdue.

Does anyone know what's happening with the business lounge? It's been closed for at least 6 months now. Thank you.
