NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will increase frequencies on its Belgrade - New York service ahead of schedule due to strong demand ahead of the Easter holidays in the United States. Starting March 22, the Serbian carrier will operate three weekly rotations between the two cities with its Airbus A330-200 aircraft, each Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The airline plans to operate up to five weekly flights on the route during the summer. “The addition of another weekly flight to New York, despite the coronavirus pandemic, is a clear indicator that our transatlantic connection functions well and that it represents one of Air Serbia’s strongest routes. The United States is a very important market for us, and we are glad to provide continuous and strong flight connectivity, not just for Serbia, but also the broader region”, Jiri Marek, Air Serbia’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, said. Since the resumption of flights to the United States on June 6, 2020 until February 28, 2021, the national airline operated 218 flights between Belgrade and New York, carrying a total of 38.187 passengers.

This flight will do well because Sunday night there are flights from LCA, SKP, TIA and ATH.

good. now do YYZ. Just flew (flying) to Toronto via FRA. Had to walk the plank of shame to the buses even though I noticed at least 20 gates vacant. I asked the cabin crew why and they said "Serbia is not Schengen" and I said "neither is Canada or the U.S. but you don't make them take the bus or go through security again for a connecting flight."

Honestly, a lot of people (non-EU union) would probably choose BEG for a connection to YYZ or ORD in order to avoid the hassles that they make us go through in FRA/CDG or worse yet LHR.

I guess that's why JU does so well with transfers from places like Tirana. Also loads in SKP have been really good now in covid. I guess this whole mess has been a good opportunity for them.

No, not really. They do well in places like Tirana because they offer signifacntly cheaper fares compared to other alternatives.

Source...really? It's from persional experience, i know many people who have chosen to fly with JU from TIA, and they have done it because it was the cheapest option, i literally never heard any other reason. Does anyone seriously think that Albanians are transfering via BEG to avoid the plank of shame in FRA?

Yes because JU or BEG can't have any other thing working for them other than the price. For example it doesn't matter that JU offers are more comfortable ride over the pond because of more legroom in economy class. Nash it gotta be JU dumping prices left and right.

      Gets really old.

Fyi I just checked prices for TIA JFK in the last week of March, more or less the same days.

      LH: $715
      JU: $902

Damn you JU and your cheap tickets.

It's ridiculous how JU fanboys have to play the victim card on every post. I wasn't even slightly attempting to attack or criticise Air Serbia. How can you be so sensitive? In the case of Albania what i am saying it's true, whether you like it or not. Beggars can't be choosers.

Rekla kazala because you don't like it? The fact you got triggered so easily is a clear sign. 1 random date doesn't show anything. I talk from personal experience, i live in Albania and i know how things work here and how people choose which airline to fly. It's an extremely price sensitive market. People choosing an airline for its price is not neccessarily a negative thing, but you are trying to make it look like it.

I just got off the AC flight to YYZ and there was a LF of maybe 20%. Same for the last 4 flights over the last 7 months. How do they make money, cargo?? I imagine the same thing would be for JU (blueberries, Slivo, express mail?)

Right now, I am on both websites checking the fares for TIA-JFK in July.

Lufthansa starts from €588, Air Serbia, the cheapest I could find (09.07 to 21.07), is $800 which is around €670.

I agree with you Anonymous14:54, it is the perfect opportunity to start YYZ with 2 to 3 rotations a week . BEG would offer great cnx to many destinations as Canada is filled with immigration from Eastern Europe . Not sure why they are not moving FWD but keep talking about it for such a long time,? Could be due to terribly expensive fees at YYZ, most expensive landing fees in the World as well T3 is where they would have to go. Have to say, it is such a trash terminal . The International arrival area is one of the worse I have ever traver trough.

    1. Anonymous18:00

Are you sure it wasn't the old T1 terminal? That one was bad, but current T3 is not. While not as great as T1, T3 at YYZ went through renovations on the departure side over the past several years and it's functional and nice now. International arrivals are functional but certainly not trash.

Air Serbia painted only one A330 so they won't introduce service to Toronto in the near future.

Too bad Rouge and Transat are not in a position to launch this new service right now, they would own this route.

Well there was T2 as far as I Remember and that terminal is now gone . I am not sure what renovations you are talking about but T3 arriving area has low ceilings, smelly carpet , and a few very small baggage belts . All desks are from 50 years ago . Also at the departure level , they renovated the floor half way only and half around KLM & AF area is all left untouched. Gates have left counters from 60s. Food options are aweful.
