Croatia Airlines has marked thirty years since it performed its first commercial flight on May 5, 1991 between Zagreb and Split. The service was operated by an MD-82 aircraft leased from Adria Airways. To celebrate the occasion, all passengers flying on the afternoon service between the two cities this Wednesday received a free return ticket on any flight within the carrier’s domestic network. The Zagreb - Split route is Croatia Airlines’ second busiest domestic service after Zagreb - Dubrovnik. In the pre-pandmic 2019, it handled 198.433 travellers between the two cities, while the figure stood at 65.516 last year.

DeleteInteresting ... Didn't know that Croatia Airlines was started with help from Adria Airways. Gives to show how much Adria's knowledge is woven into this region's aviation. By knowledge I mean operatives (crew, dispatch, ...) sans management, not wanting to ruffle anyone's feathers.
ReplyDeleteYes, OU started with help from JP. And we had excellent cooperation in the beginning. Unfortunately, bad people took over, both sides. And I miss Adria, it was good company. And I will not write my opinion about OU today because of the anniversary only.

Are you sure you haven't mixed up something? Or deliberately spreading false information? Flight to Split on May 5 was promotional special flight, carrying on board president Franjo Tudjman, politicians, journalists, and representatives of the airline. It was not regular flight and it was not possible to buy ticket for that flight. The first Croatia Airlines commercial flights was to Skopje, one day later, May 6, 1991, 05.50 am
