NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will resume operations between Belgrade and Barcelona next month, marking its return to the Spanish market after more than a year. Flights between the two cities will operate twice per week, each Thursday and Sunday, starting July 4. “We are happy to be renewing the direct air link with Barcelona, a destination that is extremely popular among our passengers, both in terms of business and leisure travel. We remain focused on every opportunity that presents itself on the market, in order to be able to continue producing good results and to be able to offer our passengers the greatest possible selection of destinations during the vacation season”, Air Serbia’s general Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Jiri Marek, said. Serbia’s Green Certificate is recognised by Spanish authorities, enabling Serbian citizens to enter the country for non-essential purposes.

VLC was mentioned as one of the Air Serbia's potential new destinations from BEG among other cities for summer 2020, but it has never actually happened.

Valencia and its region is an excellent place to visit as well. However with a rented car from Barcelona airport you can get there in 3 hours. Andalucía would require 9 hours drive therefore and additional flight from Barcelona. That's why Malaga needs a flight. Before the pandemic, Sofia airport (via Wizz and Air Bulgaria) were filling planes full several times a week. That's why, I am pretty sure a flight to Malaga from Belgrade would be a success.

I think anything beyond MAD and BCN is an issue for JU because it complicate things with transfers. A plane can't go and come back in time, heck MAD used to miss several destinations because of this rather unpleasant phenomenon.

Interesting that they will fly on Thursday which is a day with limited transfer options. Maybe they will rely on transfers?

I think they had three flights and two out of those were at like 02.00 from BEG. Btw they are horrible with the on time performance. Their Italian operations were so bad that they got threatened by the government that they will lose their licence.

The South of Spain is a forgotten place by airlines in the Balkans. Málaga Airport brings millions from all Europe and Andalucia is big as Portugal and requires weeks to be discovered.

Málaga is a jewel of a destination and not to mention Sevilla. Plus, the Andalusian beaches are much more beautiful compared to the ones in Costa Brava.
There is definitely room for Mallorca - another great destination, but it is invaded with Germans. They nickname it the second Germany outside Germany.

There are from September regular flights to Malaga from Sofia with Ryanair, wizzair and airbulgaria. Why wouldn't regular flight be possible from Belgrade? What Sofia have that Belgrade havent?

There is a sizeable Bulgarian diaspora in the whole of Spain, Malaga area included. FR flights were just recently launched 2 weeks ago and will operate on the same days as Wizz. They did this intentionally to kick them off like they did with BCN, MAD and the new Italian destinations such as BRI, CTA, and BLQ.
