NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines has adopted a decision to finance the 47.3-million-euro loss generated in 2020 from future profits. “The year 2020 was marked by significant changes to the business environment which had an enormous impact on the company’s finances. The crisis caused by the coronavirus has drastically slashed demand for air travel, which, in line with travel restrictions, resulted in a decrease in capacity, a drastic reduction in planned flights, as well as the termination of existing or planned new services”, Croatia Airlines said. Croatia Airlines saw its losses narrow to 12.9 million euros during the first quarter of this year, down from 14.6 million over the same period in 2020. The figure is also an improvement on the pre-pandemic 2019, when it registered a 13.3-million-euro loss during the first quarter.

It's hilarious how disillusioned they are. So they think covid is their main obstacle towards profitability? They need to think twice, it's actually Ryanair.

Recent reductions by Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa show that there is a shift in demand from ZAG. This is the FR effect. I think it was on here that it was reported that OS was one of the main transfer airlines between Zagreb and Sofia. Meanwhile Ryanair is introducing non stop flights so a large share of these passengers will no longer have to connect. Even businessmen who travel will arrange their meetings around direct flights.

Ryanair is no threat to OU! They attract completely different types of passenger. OU's problem is that it is stuck in old ways reliant on the state. Their business model needs to change, that's for sure. But they must remain a full service Airline, rather then trying to compete with Ryanair on its substandard customer service.

In what universe is FR not a direct threat to OU? I am sorry but this is no longer 2002 when we don't know what kind of effect LCCs will have on legacies. Today we know that every single legacy carrier out there struggled when faced with LCCs. OU will be the same.

The fact is that the "substandard customer service" generates profit, unlike a lot of full service airlines worldwide.

there is nothing wrong with Ryanair. i fly often on business and often to croatia (Pula)..as last week.. usually on time or early, the staff are nice and if you stick to the rules about baggage and buy the right ticket.. no problem.
4 July STN to PUY.. maybe 40 spare seats.. i can tell you ..they were not all backpackers! what does Croatia Airlines offer that Ryanair does not.. a small roll and a glass of water? get real.

It's actually a problem for all Croatian taxpayers, as this is where the losses get covered from.

Govoriš o mom miljeu, a uopće me ne poznaš. Što si ti momče umišljaš?

Hahahaha, ocito sam pogodio "u sridu". S postovanjem!

I have the impression that OU managers wake up sometimes from their winter sleep, make a hilarious statement and immediately fall asleep again. Sorry, but this airline is a shame for Croatia- they deserve better!
