Work on the expansion and modernisation of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is ongoing at several locations across the airport complex.

Preparatory work for the relocation of Terminal 1 facilities are in progress, which is to be followed by extensive work on the reconstruction of Terminal 2 and the construction of a central processor. The project is being implemented in phases, which is set to completely change the appearance and customer experience at Nikola Tesla Airport. The first phase of the work is being performed on the ground floor, near the check-in counters, as well as on the first floor, prior to the passport control area. The construction of the central processor will allow for additional check-in counters, more commercial premises as well as centralised security screening that will then be performed at one point, rather than the gates, so as to provide added comfort and more efficient passenger flow, in compliance with global standards.




Preparatory work on the modernisation of access roads and the construction of new car parks are underway, as well as additional construction and reorganisation of road lanes and the full reconfiguration of the access plateau in front of the passenger terminal building. This project will allow faster access and more efficient traffic flow, as well as increased short-term parking capacity. A new modern car park for visitors, with a capacity for 715 vehicles, is to be built and will include premium parking spaces, parking positions for those with reduced mobility, as well as electric car chargers. The completed long-stay car park with the capacity to welcome 1.500 vehicles is expected to be opened in the coming period.



The first phase of the extension of C Pier of the terminal building, which began in 2020, is in full swing. In this phase the pier will boast eight additional gates equipped with passenger boarding bridges, five bus gates and an additional roof corridor for arriving passengers. One of the greatest novelties will be the separation of departing and arriving passengers. Simultaneously, the extension of the C apron and F taxiway is also planned. Seven new aircraft stands are planned for narrow-body aircraft, with the option to use two stands for one wide-body aircraft, which will improve airport capacity and provide a connection to the new de-icing platform.








The reconstruction of the A Pier gates is also progressing with gates A1 to A4 currently being remodelled with the addition of a roof corridor.









A number of other projects are also underway, including the construction of the new control tower, inserted runway, de-icing platform, energy plant and solar plant. So far, the new E platform has been completed and is already being used by commercial aircraft for parking, as well as the airside energy plant and the abovementioned long-stay car park.

      Outdoor observation deck was not announced. Roof corridor will have windows overlooking the apron but will be accessible by incoming passengers only. Terminal upgrades are expected to be completed in 2024.

    This white letters for c7 c8 c9 c10 look disgustingly ugly.
    All in all very cheap and will really look worn out in some years.

      Good observation. And why is C12 in the interior coloured yellow? It should have followed the same pattern.
      Otherwise, C7-C10 might be tricky to observe in snow.

    Better remove the tacky white letters/numbers on the facade and replace them with the yellow signage on the airbridges (like A1 A2 A3 ...).

      Signage is beautiful. It's not a new terminal, just a concourse extension. You can't tell a difference between an airport terminal and a pier but want to pollute comment section with your flawed aesthetics.

    We would have to wait until the end of the construction. I personally have mixed feelings about it. It looks modern at times but also retro at others.
    For example, ZAG or SPU airport is really modern and the same goes for LJU. The BEG general feel is good, but I am lacking this wow modern moment with the exception of C. 12,which looks pretty nice.
    And again, I hope Vinci has considered a future railway or metro connection within the airport vicinity, similar to OTP and SOF for example.

    It would be nice if we could have bilingual tables Cyrillic(Serbian)/Latin(English). Plus carefully chosen some beautiful sans Cyrillic font.

      Miroslav Cyrillic is not sans-serif font. Sans is Helvetica, for example, but it is very old and over used font. When you are airside you are not in formally in Serbia but you are not in some Anglo-Saxon country, yet. Serbian touch has still to be present there, as well.

      I cannot comment financial construction, decision to put it under concession, capacity and other planned facilities since I do not have enough data but I can comment visibility because it is main Serbian airport and we have to respect Serbian identity.

      With all respect to your opinion I think you did not understand my view. I do not consider myself 'Taliban minded' nor anything like that. If you look architecture, post-modern movement emerged as a reaction to modernity. We have to accept modern ways of building things, ideas etc., but there are also some things we as a nation do unique comparing to others. All these uniqueness has reflection to culture. And culture has reflection to architecture among many other things.

      Especially during these times when it looks like many controversial ideas are coming from other cultures.

      I flew from BEG few days ago. The new part has open air conditioning on the roof, it doesn't look good. They should hide it, not leaving it open like this.
