Windrose terminates Skopje service

NEWS FLASH

Ukraine’s Windrose Airlines has terminated flights between Kiev and Skopje. The service was maintained once per week throughout the summer and had previously been temporarily suspended. Although flights were scheduled to run until the start of the 2021/2022 winter season on October 31, the final service between the two cities was operated on October 7. Windrose Airlines initially launched flights to the Macedonian capital in December 2020 but suspended the service for a month from mid-February until mid-March. The airline had previously told EX-YU Aviation News its flights to Skopje were primarily being used by tourists.

seems Windrose didnt profit much from the sudden increase of Ukrainian tourists in Macedonia this year (since May). In Aug there was an increase of 290% (compared to 2019) and UKR tourists were in the Top5 the last few months (Top 6 in Aug).

Its all about the cheap bus tours

If you have 1 person in 2019 and than 290 people now that is 290% increase .... just saying.

To make money from tourist probably they need to run charters for the travel agency... and we don't know what kind of tours they have.... Maybe Ohrid is better destintion for that

Odessa- Skopje is at least 22 hours by bus. That's a great way to start a vaycay.

Going to many places around Ukraine is 15-20 hours by train or bus.

200-300km is considered 'right next door'.

So long distance travel for these people is nothing unusual.

It's for размажени ex-Yugos that it's too much.

Air demand to NMK can be quite tricky. Thing is, SKP/OHD are usually included in car or bus itineraries, Fly Dubai, Qatar, Nordwind are all history now. I guess SKP should concentrate on more German and Swedish, secondary and tertiary airports.

With 1 weekly flight and using a small plane, the result was expected. That being said, it seems that FlyDubai will not operate in 2022 either. There are no scheduled flights on their website.
