PHOTOS: Air Montenegro unveils livery

NEWS FLASH

Air Montenegro’s Embraer E195 aircraft has received the carrier’s corporate livery eight months following its launch after it was painted in Lisbon where the jet was undergoing maintenance. The aircraft arrived in Podgorica yesterday. The livery is inspired by “the unique colours of the sunset over the Montenegrin sea and mountains”, the company said. It was implemented by branding specialist ABC International and the Slovenian-based Skubin Design - Aircraft Graphics. The Air Montenegro livery was selected through an international tender, which saw over 100 design submissions. The author is Russian designer Maksim Arbuzov. The livery and the logo are based on that of the now-defunct Montenegro Airlines with added stylistic elements.

No such thing in geometry as 'the box'. It's called a square, for God's sake!

Love the livery! Modern and fresh. "The box", as people call it, is kinda unique and from what I saw is their branding. Google "air montenegro logo" and it shows the logo is 2 squares, title and logo. It is out of the ordinary and I like it because of that.

I actually like it, a bit refreshing amongst all the blend copy/paste liveries we are seeing lately.

I just can't understand how the designer was like "yeah this random placed huge box fits perfectly" and then everyone in the company agreed

They selected a russian designer instead of home based one. I quite liked this one: https://www.behance.net/gallery/120570311/AIR-MONTENEGRO-predlog-redizajna?tracking_source=search_projects%7Cair%20montenegro

This is actually a professional design (anon 14:49). The one that was selected is far form professional, just one that can be done with simple web solutions from anyone. It's a missed opportunity for Air Montenegro to get a professional design (corporate identity) that can be coherently used in all possible contexts.

I actually love it! Finally something a bit not so boring eurowhite scheme. The square makes it also different and distinguishable. My sole critic is the lack of more red colour representing MNE heritage and flag.

  12. Square on its own is an interesting solution, both blues with various shades of the "sun".
The problem is the wordmark, typeface is weak and dull. The separation in two lines of the country name which is on its own very distinctive gave them no advantage, only diluted the brand.

For the tail, they should have just bought the original design, it was better. With all these new hues and shades and whatnot.

This comes from an enthusiast, not a professional.

That square looks like a Cargo door. New model, Embraer E195F.

I've done fair share of designs in my life, although not pro designer, more like self taught, but sorry people, this desing is total crap. It managed to instill all the no-no design errors and mistakes. For starter, it would be fair to buy the logo from the previous company, and now they are suing them for the intelectual property breach. Shall I say - typical montenegrin mindset (why would we pay for our eagle?), second, one never mixes dihtered area with clean (square) are. It just doesn't work like this. The other way arround it might (clean part followed by dihtered), typeface is dreadfull, and he managed to do another big mistake - one tries not to introduce visual elements which bring in the confusion. AIR MONTE NEGRO is typical such error. It would be much better if they would continue the dihtered part from tail all the way towards the nose. There are many better desings at airline empires and they are all fictional! http://www.airline-empires.com/index.php?/gallery/category/2-logo-livery-seat-map-showcase/

So why do you think you're right? It all comes to the people liking it or not and, in this case, a lot of people do. As for those concepts from the link you provided -all bland and already-seen-before style.

I'm not talking about personal taste, there are bilions of them of course. I'm talking about serious visual mistakes, they just shouldn't be there. Among the worse is plagiating the eagle logo, for which they are being sued by the Montenegro Airlines. And the link I provided is about fictional airlines. Speaking of taste, even that intermediate tail desing JAT had in 90' (three dots) was much better than this...and that was already considered as total crap.
