Former Air Serbia CEO to head Portuguese carrier

NEWS FLASH

Dane Kondić, the first CEO of the rebranded Serbian national carrier, today assumed the role of Chairman of Lisbon-based EuroAtlantic Airways. The airline is specialised in charter operations and leasing. He takes over on behalf of the carrier’s new shareholder, the Luxembourg group Imperial Jet, led by German - Lebanese pilot and businessman Abed El-Jaouni. EuroAtlantic also owns 38% of STP Airways, the national airline of Sao Tome and Príncipe. In 2019, Air Serbia briefly wet-leased a EuroAtlantic Airways Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for its flights between Belgrade and New York while its sole Airbus A330-200 jet was undergoing scheduled maintenance. Mr Kondić headed the Serbian carrier from its rebranding in the summer of 2013 until January 1, 2018.

Ordering DC-10 and profound impact of that aircraft on the airline was the most significant event in the past 50 years of JU. Next one by the level of impact was rebranding and transformation to Air Serbia in 2013-2014 led by Dane Kondic. Errors notwithstanding, that process was essential in crafting Air Serbia we know and support today. Kondic deserves a credit for a long line of firsts in the history of JU.
