NEWS FLASH
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s expansion project is continuing to advance with the most extensive work currently taking place in front of the terminal buildings. Construction of the new central processor, which stretches over 15.000 square metres and is divided into six segments is taking place, which includes the construction of a viaduct for pedestrians and cars, as well as the expansion of the smaller short-term car park which will be located in front of the terminal. The new central processor will enable the airport to boast 100 check-in desks, up to 1.200 square metres of additional retail space and an expanded arrivals area. The project will also allow for faster access and more efficient traffic flow.
Asphalt is being layered on the final segment of the airport’s new 3.500-metre-long inserted runway. Simultaneously, a new lighting system for the inserted runway, which will replace the existing one during its reconstruction, is currently taking place.
Work is continuing inside the terminal buildings as well, with gates A5 to A10 currently under reconstruction. A new floor is being added above these gates. In addition, the airport has begun opening new retail areas, with several new stores and cafes expected to open in the coming period, while the first food and beverage facility was recently launched in the newly expanded segment of the C concourse.
Is this something similar to BUD SkyCourt?
ReplyDeleteWhen will new building open?
ReplyDeleteit's never been closed.
Deletethe temporary arrangements are... substandard at best! borderline non-functional at worst.
A6-A10 is also progressing quite nicely, the last time I saw it they completely removed windows and most of the walls.
ReplyDeleteCan confirm! I was therr a few days ago and the entire building has been gutted. Basically just the concrete frame remains
DeleteI hope there will be enough space for just one Satrbucks coffee
ReplyDeleteI would prefer to see local brands at the airport as opposed to those tacky "international" brands. It's a great promo for stopovers.
DeleteThere are few Kafeterija carts around the airport, would be cool if they had a proper cafe open.
DeleteHope they do not allowed any of that filtered coffee places at the BEG airport . We do not enjoy such a coffee and it does not fit what majority passengers like to consume while waiting for their flight.
DeleteSpeak for yourself. Your “domaca” kafa isn’t what most of the people look for.
DeleteKafeterija (or better one of the Belgrade specialty coffee joints) is what BEG should be aiming for. Starbucks sucks.
DeleteI wouldn't be surprised if both open at the airport
DeleteIt would be nice if the aircondition would work during construction.
ReplyDeleteDon't spread misinformation. Air conditioning works. It doesn't work in part of the building where A5-A10 gates are as the facade is missing and heat comes in but they have put in portable air conditioning.
DeleteI'm so sorry that I didn't know that.
DeleteWhile sweating I did't know that there were some people NOT sweating, because around me everybody was.
Some gates work great.. Like A1.. Its a freezer in there waiting lounge, while some not so great. Also, in certain parts of the hallways it is quite apparent that AC is lacking. In certain parts they put those mobile AC units.
DeleteA1 on last wednesday was sooo hot and humid during W6 boarding, also there is security like standing without monitoring and anything its turmed on and it beeps all the time
DeleteThat's why you should avoid flying on Wizz. They probably took A1 gate as it was the cheapest since ac didn't work there
DeleteWizz doesn’t get to chose the gates honey. They are assigned like that by the airport. And be sure that if something isn’t right JU won’t be placed there.
DeleteTraveled recently through Belgrade airport. On the positive side is the central security check and the fact that you do not need to take out electronics any more! On the negative side (there are many!) 1) toilets are filthy as before 2) carpets in new extension already stained in many places 3) smoking area vent not working so the door of the smoke room is kept open 4) C9 roof leaking and water penetrating into the building 5) one of the escalators not working 6) recently "redesigned" airport web page gives comments such as "ocekivan" without indicating the time. In fact if one follows the English version it will give the time but in Serbian (both cyrillic and latin) the time is absent (wrote and brought up this fault on their customer service page but nothing was done although I received a message that the remark will be passed on to the relevant department). Overall POOR customer presentation and satisfaction!
ReplyDeleteGreat central security area, but on most days it lacks security staff to operate it.
DeleteVery very slow check in process whenever administered by AB employees! Waiting more than 50 min in line for TK flight to Istanbul although 5 check-in kiosks were "apparently" working. When check-in was done manually many years ago it was 3x faster!
ReplyDeleteTraveled via Belgrade two weeks ago. Flooring in the new terminal is already showing damage by water or condensation as all panels are "swollen" at the edges. It's either really low quality or not installed properly. It's a shame because it looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteNekima je izgleda zdravlje ozbiljno ugroženo kad vide kako će BG aerodrom izgledati nakon nadogradnje.
ReplyDeleteТреба бити и самокритичним па примити к знању и исправити недостатке да би аеродром био што успешнији и бољи. Зашто одмах пљување по људима који су можда видели и доживели и боље од тренутног стања!?!
DeleteNekima je izgleda zdravlje ozbiljno ugroženo kad vide dobronamernu kritiku i predloge.
DeleteI do not get the "central processor" i.e. why are they building a giant triangular building just in front of the existing terminal. But hopefully it will improve the things.
ReplyDeleteHowever, two things I really disliked on my recent trips: 1) when passengers are bused to the terminal they have to climb one flight of stairs to departures level and then take escalators to new arrivals hall. Quite strange having in mind that this is all new. Why didn't they installed at least an elevator for people who have small kids, can not lift hand luggage, elderly, have restricted movement but do not require special assistance (there is a big difference). 2) Lack of any photos or promo content for Belgrade and Serbia in new arrivals area - but that can be easily improved.
We have to be patient with this renovation, they are getting there :)
Two points.
ReplyDeleteI really hope the quality of works will be decent, but the leaks and marks we already have are not a good sign.
Can't they come up with some kind of system of signs and temporary infrastructure, because going of the airport is really chaotic hell?
I really don’t mind the ongoing works and the scaffolding since we’re going to have an upgraded airport. However, it’s beyond my comprehension that they cannot keep the toilets clean! I landed at the C gate and went to the toilet. They were disgusting. And there was no toilet paper in all of the cabins. Shame on you Vinci.
