NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will commence a limited seasonal winter service between Niš Constantine the Great Airport and Zurich. Two weekly flights will be maintained during the peak holiday travel period, from December 17, 2022 until January 14, 2023. “We are extremely glad that we can offer our passengers a fast nonstop service between Niš and Zurich during the New Year and Christmas holidays. This way, we will secure good connections between the largest Swiss city and the south of our country. For now, the flights are seasonal, but depending on passenger demand, we will consider its continuation”, Air Serbia’s Head of Network Planning and Scheduling, Bojan Arandjelović, said. In previous years, Swiss International Air Lines operated flights between the two cities, the last time being during the holidays of 2020 and early 2021. Further details for Air Serbia’s new Niš - Zurich service can be found here.

Is there any chance of Air Serbia MBX - BEG?

They are probably looking into it, especially with 72-600 it would be profitable for sure

I think that could work but not before BEG-LJU goes triple daily. I am sure MBX could give some subsidies like RJK did in the past.

If MBX had wanted to give some subsidies they would have given it to FR or W6.

I do not see any chance for JU to start flying BEG-MBX.

If they fly to Trieste twice weekly there is no reason why MBX with the same frequency wouldn't work.

Yes but FR and W6 would cover western European markets from MBX, JU would link them with the east and especially with key destinations like IST, ATH, SKG, LCA and so on.

TRS had 2019 almost 800.000 passengers and MBX does not have even one scheduled airline. These 2 airports can't be compared at all.

Distance between MBX and LJU is 130 km and there is highway connecting these 2 cities. As JU already frequently flies to LJU offering all these eastern connections why would they have any need to start MBX where nobody flies to?

Well that is why I said that they will launch it only if they have a strong presence in LJU (21 weekly from BEG) and if MBX is willing to give them subsidies. After all, JU flies to both PUY and RJK and the two cities are 108 km one from the other.

MBX is currently operated by DRI, which is not a proper airport operator, but it is running the airport in name of the ministry of infrastructure. They are not making any money with the airport, they are there just to keep status quo so noone needs to make (the final) decision. There is no business or development plan. We can forget about MBX.

That's actually a really good schedule especially Saturday afternoon because you can catch the plane easily if you live outside the city. This will be good for the whole region.

I am so positively surprised about this JU move.
I think this is the very first time that JU under Air Serbia brand reacts to the INI demand!

I do hope INI would see JU on its flights to CDG or BVA, sooner rather than later.
Also, I do hope KVO will see something new as well, such as Vienna reintroduction during W 22/23.

One would say: so many hopes...

To be honest, growing charter offering from INI has been driven by tour operators, not by JU. Still, it is very good development.
And yes, I was referring to scheduled services from INI, and that is why this ZRH flights are encouraging.

True but also JU could have ignored them because of capacity constraints. At least now they planned their fleet so as to make sure INI can grow as well.
INI-ZRH also shows how the market has matured over time and that Air Serbia isn't afraid to launch non subsidized routes from there.

Zatim sledi dogradnja Uzickih Ponikvi... Srbija nije izuzetak.
