Skopje Airport registers busiest July on record

NEWS FLASH

Skopje Airport welcomed 260.095 passengers through its doors in July, representing an increase of 7.6% on the same month during the pre-pandemic 2019. The strong rebound in numbers was fuelled by Wizz Air, which has restored its entire network out of Skopje, as well as an increased number of charter flights. During the January - July period, Macedonia’s main airport handled 1.122.574 travellers, which is still down 13.7% on pre-Covid levels. Passenger numbers on a number of select routes out of Skopje during the first quarter of the year have been made public, showing the likes of Istanbul, Basel and Zurich as the busiest. It should be taken into account that strict travel restrictions were still in place in most of Europe during the first quarter, as well as ban on entry from Macedonia to some markets. As a result, the majority of routes were still performing below pre-pandemic levels, however, there were some exceptions. These include Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, Basel, Dortmund, Hamburg and Berlin which were above pre-Covid levels.

Soon you will have JFK-BEG-OHD...which will be very good. OHD-IST is also indespensable!

Very good results. I hope one day atleast one gulf carier will come back. It would also be nice if Wizzair would add some summer charters to Spain maybe.

It seems that there is still very high demand for gasto routes such as the profile of the airport itself.
No wonder why QR and FZ are not yet considering SKP.

there is no correlation between that. If QR or FZ comes back will depend on different factors. Such as travel demand from people living in Macedonia and ofcourse people going to Macedonia. I think there is enough demand for them to make a little profit on SKP route but with plane shortage and staff shortage worldwide it is at the moment not interesting to invest in SKP while you can use your planes on routes that make higher profit.

We deffinitly need Paris , Amsterdam or Frankfurt to enter our country , this is tje Europe airports that connects all the world and we dont have connections to this main airports , we have only Istanbul and Vienna and this is not enough. This Wizz routes are important only for our diaspora , but TAV need to counts and its citizens in Macedonia who wants to travel around the world but dont have direct connection to Europe main airports and are force to change few airports to reach its target ..
