Croatia Airlines outlines winter network with two new routes

Croatia Airlines has finalised its network for the 2022/2023 winter season which begins on October 30 and runs until March 25 of next year. The carrier will introduce two new routes, with limited operations from both Split and Pula to Zurich. Both routes have so far been maintained on a seasonal summer basis. During the upcoming winter, they will both run twice per week, each Wednesday and Saturday, with the Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. At this point, the two services have been scheduled to run until mid-January of next year. As a result, this winter, for the first time in years, Croatia Airlines will run international flights out of Pula, complementing its domestic operations to Zagreb and Zadar.

The Croatian carrier will maintain thirteen international destinations out of its Zagreb hub. The airline will restore services from the Croatian capital to Dublin, which have been suspended for most of the summer season. It will run until the end of January. Furthermore, it will run flights to Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London Heathrow, Munich. Paris, Rome (via Split), Sarajevo, Skopje, Vienna and Zurich. In addition, it will maintain domestic services to Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Zadar. The carrier will operate the same number of destinations as during the previous winter season. Compared to the pre-pandemic 2018/2019 and the start of the 2019/2020 winter, it will not serve Barcelona, Lisbon and Mostar from its main hub.

Elsewhere in its network, Croatia Airlines will operate flights from Split to Frankfurt, Munich, Rome and Zagreb, in addition to its new Zurich service. Operations to Dubrovnik have been reduced to a single domestic route, in contrast to its pre-pandemic winters which also included flights to Frankfurt. From Osijek, the carrier will continue to maintain services to Munich, which were launched earlier this year. Similarly, from Rijeka, the airline will boast flights to the Bavarian capital, while services from Zadar will be maintained to Pula and Zagreb. Overall, Croatia Airlines will run over 8.500 scheduled flights during the 2022/23 winter season with 890.000 tickets on sale, representing an increase of 29% on last year.

      When Croatia Airlines was starting, some 30 years ago, Swissair was the World's best airline. Croatia Airlines had huge plans, unbelievable positive energy and intention to become "Croatian Swissair". Only few years later, they became humiliated servant and pathetic feeder with no plan, no vision and no energy for anything except wasting public money, or in other words, joke of the company, which in this form does not deserve to exist at all.

      Swissair became Swiss. They did not went bankrupt because of bad business but because Cartel didn't want competition and deliberately destroyed them. They destroyed Sabena as well. And Adria. And Croatia Airlines is "doing pretty well" until Cartel decides for them to follow the steps of Swissair, Sabena, and Adria. And many others.

      Because those are operated in cooperation with tourist board, local tourist board, county etc meaning they get paid to fly those routes. Dubrovnik doesn't pay them.

      AirSerbia flew the whole summer season without a backup. Heck they flew short on a plane do to delays!
      And OU has the money to pay for a plane to just sit there?! And yes I know there are power by hour contracts but that doesn't mean the plane is for free if you don't fly it.

    For a small country who's population do not travel much and has minimal winter tourism OU's network is fully optimised and covers all needs. Much more reliable than FR cancelling dozens of flights per month.

      What are you talking about? In next 2 months demand from the northern European plains to move to a warmer south during the winter to areas like Croatia,Greece, Turkey would exceed any demand to any classical winter destination like Austria, Alps, France. and that would be Times 100 (x100)
      Old Concepts of 7-days winter holidays in Bad Klainkirchen are gone, gone forever LOL

      It is very obvious what is happening with old legacy industries from Ex-Yu to anyone who wants to look with their clear mind. They are all filled with people that who dont think with their head but follow the directives that benefits the cartel or the crown.

      Just to add so it can be clear what was on my mind. The Airline industry like any other industry is going though change in the next 10 year. So all the old concepts of developed in particularly Europe about summer and wither holidays and etc are finished. Due to huge changes in energy mix supplies that are happening right know and division of energy markets on 2 distinctive economic blocks (East and West) Airline industry also has adapt or it will disappear. It is happening with Finish airline and few other in Western Europe that will probably not exist in next few years.

      2. Yeah, Croatian diaspora from Queens, New Jersey, San Diego and Perth is driving home to Croatia for holidays, for sure. The same goes for Chinese and Japanese tourists.

    What's with OU's LGW-SPU-LGW? Seems they canx it throughout May 22, and now again for Oct 22. Is this true?

    Yes OU LGW-SPU cancelled in October, what chance does the country have in winter if they cannot handle shoulder season traffic
