Ljubljana to see strong charter operations over winter

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Airport is forecasting a notable number of charter flights this winter season, which begins on Sunday. Leisure services to popular destinations in Egypt, Turkey and Spain, as well as Malta are planned over the autumn. By the end of the year, flights will also be organised by Slovenian tour operators to Albania, Madeira, the Azores and Lapland. Charter flights to holiday hotspots are becoming an important source of passengers for Ljubljana Airport as it continues its slow recovery from both the demise of former national carrier Adria Airways and the coronavirus pandemic. During the January - August period, 15.3% of all passengers using Ljubljana Airport flew on charters, with the share to grow to over 20% by year's end. The General Manager of operator Fraport Slovenija, Babett Stapel, previously said there is potential to turn the airport into a hub for charter flights.

You know why charters are so strong? It's because there is no scheduled lines to the destinations with the demand, but fraport is yet to figure this one out...

Nije slika zrakoplova Trade Air ovdje bez razloga. Ljudi šute i rade.

    3. As long as Germany is well connected, there is nothing to be concerned about!

Charter traffic is equally important to scheduled. Hopefully, Ljubljana sees flights to the fantastic Canary Islands. Tenerife and Fuerteventura are pretty awesome. The southern part of Gran Canaria as well.
Sadly, it is now more expensive because of the huge number of German, UK and Scandinavian tourists.

"there is potential to turn the airport into a hub for charter flights"
This sentence makes no sense whatsoever

What I meant was that it makes no sense that somebody would charter to LJU to then charter to another destination

I wonder if we could have an airline operating both schedule and charter flights out of LJU. Wait, never mind. We already had that but apparently it was too expensive and the "concerned taxpayers" brigade was against it.

I just wonder how "concerned taxpayers" live now since Adria was apparantly "stealing" their money. I bet now that Adria is gone they all drive Lamborghini's and have 3 million € mansions.

I often wonder that myself. More money for the public sector. However, concerned taxpayers don't seem to be overly concerned.

Why did Klagenfurt secure new Ryanair flights this winter even if they are seasonal and Fraport Slovenia still sleeping? I really don't get.
