Air Serbia handled 200.743 passengers during the slowest month for the aviation industry in February, representing an increase of 150% on last year and up 30.5% on its previous best February of 2020. The carrier registered an average cabin load factor of just over 70%. It operated 2.410 flights during the month. “February is a somewhat shorter month and is considered to be the worst month for air transport in this part of the world. That did not stop us from carrying more than 200.000 passengers from Belgrade, NiÅ¡ and Kraljevo in February for the first time. February is the eighth month in a row which broke the record in terms of passengers carried. We have been seeing historic results since July 2022, and judging by February, the growth trend continues. The addition of new destinations to our network will further drive interest in spring. Evidently, a dynamic summer awaits”, Air Serbia’s Head of Revenue Management, MaÅ¡a Vasović, said. During February, the most popular destinations in Western Europe were Zurich, Paris, Athens, Vienna and Berlin. Regionally, Podgorica and Tivat saw the highest demand.

Taking the current passenger flow into consideration, BEG could easily reach 7 million this year and JU could reach 3.5 million.

BEG had around 900k in January and February. Just for comparison, Sofia announced they handled 1 million passengers. I hope BEG will be able to catch up in summer due to crazy charter demand

Interestingly, Plovdiv registered more than 220,000 passengers for the first time and secured Pegasus and Arkia regular flights this summer. It will be interesting to see if that doesn't hurt Sofia being close.

First Lagos, then Hanoi and then maybe Toronto ;)

Someone recently wrote that Toronto is only busy in the summer, which is mostly true at this moment. No one from Belgrade wants to visit relatives in Canada in winter. I heard that some Bosanac guy moved from there to Florida because he got tired of shoveling snow. Everyone can meet up in Miami in the winter.

I have sent countless letters to them outlining why IAD - BEG makes sense. If enough people do it, perhaps it will spark their interest.
