NEWS FLASH

Spanish carrier AlbaStar will commence regular charter flights between Madrid and Podgorica this summer. The service will operate each Monday from June 19 until August 28 with the carrier’s 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The Montenegrin capital’s only scheduled service to Spain is Barcelona, operated by Ryanair.

However, Greece and Croatia remain their favorites! This year, Iberia will launch flights to Madrid from Tirana.

Qatar is a small country. Singapore is even smaller country. There are other smaller countries that really keep winning.

MNE is obviously trying its best to bring in other types of tourists to compensate the loss of the Russians. I would say it is doing a great job so far. This reminds me of Burgas that once upon a time used to have up to 5 daily flights from Moscow in the peak season. Thank the US for the suffering of the Balkans as they are the ones who started this war. BCN-TGD worked out well with FR so why not MAD and then LIS.

There was even more. There were 3-4 S7, 5-10 FB and others like Nordwind, Azur, Orenair, Vimavia, Transaero. Same as Tivat and Podgorica.
Montenegro does the same, attracting Poles, Czechs and even Saudis and Kazakhs.

I was in Sozopol last year it was fantastic and much cheaper than Greece for example. The city is crowded with tourists from Poland and the Czech Republic. I traveled with Wizz Air, WAW-BOJ.

17:48 & 17:51 Yes, I know. I have been following the MNE news for quite a while. Good to try with Slovakia and Poland is a huge market. I think MNE must also "attack" Romanian market and launch agressive advertising - it is a huge country. Purchasing power is increasing especially in Bucharest and Cluj.
But yeah, so bad that the Russians are restricted. They are now in Turkey, Seychelles, Maldives and Dubai where they are free to go there. US-EU affairs biggest cancer for Europe and the Balkans!

17:56 Yeah, Sozopol and Nesebar are nice towns. Poles, Czechs and Slovaks traditionally visit this area. Some like Sveti Vlas but is different. Now there are a lot of LCC options for Poles to BOJ. Lots of Ukrainians and Belarusians also used to come as tourists. Compared to the Croatian coast for instance which attracts more Western tourists, BOJ is much more Central and Eastern European.

Bulgaria is a very beautiful country, the service is almost 100% like Greece.
An interesting fact is that Burgas airport is served by about 15 airlines, but it is closer to Dubrovnik or Split. They also have a very large charter airline - European Air Charter. Which we don't have in Croatia.

19:21 - Bulgaria is beautiful like all the Balkan states, imo. The Black Sea cannot be compared to the Adriatic or Greek beaches obviously yet the Burgas area beaches have soft sand and nice water. European Air Charter and BH Air are old charter companies and apparently doing well. Still Croatia has Trade Air and the interesting ETF Airways. So you do have charter airlines :)
